Elizabeth was so excited; Will was scheduled to return today. He had
gone off to London to showcase some of his blacksmithing work. He needed to
make a name of himself to start off his business, being his own master.
Elizabeth wanted to go but it was too dangerous, a few ships have
disappeared and threat of evil pirates on the sea were going around. She
knew it couldn't be Jack Sparrow because they had a silent contract; Port
Royal wouldn't bother him if he didn't bother them.
She was worried that Will may encounter some of these pirates. Will could take care of himself she knew, he did fight Barbossa's crew on the Black Pearl after all. Still, so many people were scared of these 'new' pirates. Anyhow she was wearing her best dress and was prepared to go to the docks when a sharp knock came upon her door. Opening the door she saw her father.
" Father, and isn't this the biggest honor to have you come to visit me? Are you here to see Will with me?"
" Elizabeth darling, we have some bad news about Mr. William." " What...what? Will, what's wrong with him? " He's........" "He's what?" "He's Dead." Elizabeth woke up in her bed with an unfamiliar maid putting wet rags on her head and filling a votive with smelling salts. Other than the fact that the maid was not hers nor her father's she was not but a young girl. Her age seemed to be of about 13. Elizabeth, being 21 and having just recovered from quite a shock did not want a young girl tending her. " Are you new? Why are you so young?" "Yes mam. Not so young milady I am 14. I am from America and yet even there we have heard of Mistress Elizabeth Turner's great feats of a year ago. Why is it that you seem so pale and sick?" " Goodness you can talk alot. Keep in your place and do not ask such things. " " Yes mam." With that the girl walked away keeping her head low. She came back to tend the fire and give Elizabeth some hot porridge. " What time is it?" "Eventide." Elizabeth shook her head. She must have been asleep for a while. Something strange was going on. She thought Will was dead! Besides, the girl unnerved her. She had never seen the new maid before but was reminded of something whenever she looked at her. Elizabeth swore she saw herself at that age, when she met Will.
" What is your name?" " My name milady?" "Yes, you most undoubtedly have one and so answer me." " Milady is it true Will Turner is dead." " Do not try to avoid..... oh you horrid girl!"
Being reminded it was not a dream she started to sob and ran out the room searching for her father. Will could not die! She had only been married to him for a year. He was invincible, she had loved him since she had met him. Why must that new maid bring it up. She encountered the cook and asked her where her father was. " Had to take care of some business miss. Dreadfully sorry about Will." " Yes well no one more than I!" Elizabeth exclaimed and collapsed on a chair weeping. The cook curtsied out of the room. Then who should have to appear but the young maid? "Mam, follow me... I know how to find Will. He's not dead. You must believe me, Captain Jack said to believe me."
Elizabeth was going to slap the young girl for her lies but something in her eyes made Elizabeth believe her. Elizabeth told the girl one moment and ran up to get her coat. The two then made it out into the night.
