Lloyd growled a little under his breath. Why did he never have any luck?

Of all the games we had to play, why did we pick poker? He thought to himself. Then he noticed Colette grinning happily across the table and understood. He was playing because it made her happy, even though she rarely won. After trading some of his cards, he noticed he had four aces all lined up, and grinned.

Genis was playing with a green poker chip, flipping it over his fingers, and trying to figure out how exactly to count cards. Sure, it was fun to just play the game, but there had to be some method to all the madness. Besides, why worry about winning if you knew in advance how to win? He handed over one of his cards, and reveled in the new hand he had.

Colette was beaming. She hummed quietly while she placed a few chips on the table to raise the bet. She really didn't understand this game very well, but it was fun watching how it all played out in the end. She looked at the cards in her hand and wondered what exactly they meant.

Kratos had no real reason to still be playing. He was dragged into this, and was only still there because he was the dealer. At least his son and the chosen seemed to be enjoying themselves. Being the dealer, he got his cards last, and after switching three of them, he quietly smirked and matched the bet placed by Colette to have everyone show their hands.

Genis smiled at the group and stated very calmly that he had a full house. Lloyd quickly laid his cards flat on the table, and exclaimed, "Four of a kind! I win!" Kratos stared at him, placed his cards on the table, and said, "No you don't. I have a straight flush, and we don't yet know what Colette has." Lloyd turned a light red color, thinking that at least he had beaten Genis, and said, "oh yeah, what do you have Colette?" Colette shrugged a bit and put her cards face down on the table. Genis looked at her, slightly confused, and flipped her cards over.

When he saw what her hand was, he started laughing. Colette looked at him worriedly and asked, "What? Why are you laughing?"

Genis placed her cards on the table, revealing the fact that Colette had a royal flush. "Colette, this means that you win automatically! It's an unbeatable hand!" Colette turned a light shade of pink.

Both Lloyd and Kratos stared at her, confused. "Why didn't you say so earlier?" Lloyd asked, beginning to laugh.

Colette's blush got a little deeper as she said, "I didn't even realize that this counted!"

Author's note: Yep, I just felt like writing a comedy piece. I used poker because my sister, a friend, and I were all playing poker tonight, so this is what came out of it. :D please review!
