Tell me, Maggie the Cat… are you still on that roof?
Slow as a teardrop, a bead of swept rolls down the Cat's neck.
Then a real teardrop – finally, a tear of joy – falls down from her loving eyes.
She can see them, she can see Gooper and May – they surely stand behind the door, straining their ears to catch the slightest whisper.
But Brick is right: Not everybody makes noise about love.
It's been an hour since they came back together – an hour since they put themselves undercover.
"Tell me, Maggie the Cat… are you still on that roof?"
"Yes, I am. But it does not burn anymore."
"What happened?"
"The storm made it cold."
