Tonight was the night. I paced across the Divas' locker room floor, mentally going over the script and hoping I would do it right. There was a knock at the door and Undertaker called to me, "Kali, ready to go? We're on in five."
I took a deep breath and grabbed my coat. I opened the door to find Undertaker and Kane waiting for me. They were already in character; faces stern and ready to do battle. I pulled my coat on and we walked to the "on deck" part of the arena. As we waited, John Cena came up to me.
"Hey Kali, are you ready to go?" He asked me. He was holding his left arm close to his body. His match last week had gone wrong and he had really hurt his wrist.
From what I could remember, the only thing he had had to show up for tonight was a segment later. Cena nodded to Undertaker and Kane. They didn't indicate that they had noticed. "What's up with them?"
I rolled my eyes. "They're in character."
"Ah." Cena smiled. We both glanced at the monitor nearby. Vince was announcing a couple things before the cameras were turned on. He wrapped up and exited the ring. He came through the curtain we were standing at and saw us.
"Have fun," he told us, smiling and clapping Undertaker on the shoulder. The Deadman flashed the boss a quick smile. My music started. Here we go, I said to myself.
I walked out to the top of the ramp and scanned the audience slowly. As usual, they screamed when they saw me. I had kept my identity hidden for about a month. So everyone wanted to know what was going on.
When I reached the ring, I flipped over the top rope and landed squarely on both feet. I picked up the microphone from the tech-guy and went to stand in the center of the ring. My music faded and the audience quieted down, ready to hear me explain some things.
"I have been here a month now and I know you are all wondering the same thing; who is she? Who is this new Diva who will not leave the Undertaker alone?" I began. My voice was strong as I continued, "I am someone that the Undertaker has chosen to ignore. I am someone who the Undertaker does not want any of you to know about. I am-"
I was interrupted by the Brothers of Destruction music. They came out and stood at the top of the ramp. Undertaker waited for the music to be cut before he said, "Get to the point."
I smiled. "Fine, Undertaker. Do you remember what you did about twenty-five years ago? I mean, outside of the ring."
He just stared at me. I laughed. "You want to know who I am? I am Kali; Princess of Darkness, the Devil's Left Hand. And the Daughter of the Deadman."
The crowd erupted. Cheering, boos, and random shouting filled the air around me. Undertaker kept staring at me and Kane paced restlessly behind him. I dropped the microphone and kicked it out of the ring. My music played as I walked up the ramp towards the Brothers, my boots making the steel ramp rattle slightly underneath me.
Undertaker stepped in front of me when I got to him. He looked down at me, making me feel short. Then, he looked up around us, at the audience. He put an arm across my shoulders and carefully pulled me against him. Kane came to stand on my other side, putting me between the Brothers.
Undertaker looked down at me again and said into his microphone, "Welcome to the family."
The audience's reaction was huge. They screamed, waving signs and chanting my name. I glanced sideways at Undertaker, and then Kane. Together, we raised our fists. And new music played. It was the Brothers of Destruction theme with the guitar solo from mine. The lights flashed from red, to blue, and then they went out completely. When they came back, the Brothers and I were already backstage.
