Moving through the woods encompassing Castle Cousland, Edric moved towards his elder brother Fergus. He knew exactly where he was but he liked to make him think that he was better at stealth then he actually was. Looking around he saw Fergus's clock just in front of him. Smirking to himself, he looked around him, he wanted the element of surprise and to make him think he was elsewhere in order to make him think he had won and he had given up.
Bending down he picked up a branch and climbed up an ancient oak tree. Once covered by the foliage, Edric snapped the branch and threw it to his left. Upon seeing that it had caught his brother's attention, he moved to the end of the tree limb and waited a few moments more to ensure he would be atop of him.
Fergus thinking that he had won turned to his left when suddenly he felt the wind rush out of his body with considerable weight on top of him.
"You know that you Fergus, are so predictable thinking your better than me."
Pushing Edric off his back he jumped up and turned quickly and pounced onto him.
"If I am so predictable then you should have seen that coming then and side stepped out of the way. Dearest little brother."
Laughter echoed throughout the dense woodland
"If I did that then your ego would have been kicked into the dirt by now and we couldn't have that now."
Getting off him Fergus moved to face his brother and held out his hand
"Come brother its time to get back, I think you've proven that you are getting better haven't you, and mother will start to worry where we've both gone to"
Smiling up at him, Edric took his brothers hand and let himself be brought back onto his feet.
"You go on ahead, I'll catch up. I need to get my cloak. I won't be too long" Smiling up at Fergus "I promise I'll be back before sundown."
Frowning back at him and trying not to fall for his blatant puppy dog look. Sighing to himself
"You sure you don't need help finding it. I'd rather not go back without you, you know what mother is like."
Waving his hand dismissively "Let me handle mother you go."
"Fine but don't say I didn't warn you"
Walking off he turned round without stopping "I'll cover for you to buy you extra time. So don't say I don't help you out. We clear?"
Smiling back "Don't worry I'll be back before you know it." Turning Edric ran back into the woods and began to blend in until soon he had been swallowed up by the woods. Shaking his head Fergus turned heading towards home, running at a dead sprint.
Moving through the trees rejoicing in his freedom once again. He loved the feel of the cold wind brushing against his face. He knew these woods better than most people and so felt comfortable within the woods embrace. Moving towards where he left his dark blue woollen cloak, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up on end, turning around he saw nothing yet knew something or someone was with him. Bending down slowly to retrieve his cloak he moved back slowly when he heard the sound of leaves rustling in the undergrowth. Panicking Edric voice faltered
"Fergus this isn't funny, I'm sorry for making a fool of you, you've proved your point, your better than me now come out please."
Hearing movement from all around him he realised that it wasn't Fergus but something else and like an alpha wolf, knowing that his prey would be too scared to bolt knowing the danger, closed in for the kill.
