Draco smiled down at the brunette in his arms, before reaching a hand out tuck a loose curl behind her ear. Cuddled together on their bed, two cups of hot chocolate sat forgotten on the bedside table, the young Malfoy and his girlfriend of three years, Hermione Granger had decided to stay in this New Year's Eve.
Upon returning to Hogwarts after the war to complete their education, the two started up a tentative friendship. It started with an apology and small nods when they passed each other in the corridors, to late night study sessions that ended with the books laying forgotten in a pile around them as they talked and laughed, sharing their deepest secrets, hopes, and dreams. By the end of the year, the couple were inseparable, and despite some very negatives opinions from their family, friends, and peers, the young witch and wizard had no problem telling the rest of the Wizarding World to shove off.
A year ago, Hermione surprised Draco by asking him to move in with her. He was a bit disappointed that she had brought it up before he had the chance, however that quickly turned into excitement as he realized he was going to be living with the love of his life. The couple were not comfortable living in the manor and with the Malfoy family inheritance, the money Hermione was granted as being 1/3 of the Golden Trio, a war heroine who made it possible to stop Voldemort, and the money that they both made while working at the ministry, the two had no trouble purchasing a house that was just right for them and the future family they planned on having.
Hermione leaned in to kiss his exposed shoulder, curling into him even more, "I love you Draco."
He leaned down, nuzzling his nose with her and planted a small kiss on her lips, "I know, I love you too."
The two soon became lost in each other and in their passion, the brightest witch of their age didn't notice a heavy feeling on her finger until the two were done showing their love for each other. As they lay, exhausted, Hermione's head on top of his chest, she let out a gasp.
"Draco...what...?" she lifted her hand and twisted the ring around her finger.
"Marry me?" the blonde asked. It was simple, to the point. He knew she wouldn't like this being made into a bid deal; she was simple, elegant, to the point.
With tears in her eyes, Hermione nodded yes and the two made love until the clock stroked midnight.
"Happy New Year, Hermione Malfoy" Draco smiled happily, holding her close.
"Happy New Year, indeed."
