Over time, however, the shield feuded with various factions, making friends and enemies along the way. The hatred and venom they once felt for anyone not in a black vest seemed to wash away. They grew farther and farther apart.
It was something that saddened Rollins, but he knew it had to happen sometime. The shield was finally going to disband. They had been irritable, cranky, and disorganized for several weeks now, and Rollins figured, why not go out with a bang.
They would rediscover their hatred by attacking again. They could redeem themselves. Or so Seth thought. Ambrose thought he could send a present to his new playmate, and Reigns thought he could stand up for his new love. Each had their motivations, but the timing couldn't have been greater.
Ryback stood in the ring, arguing heatedly with Sheamus, who refused to back down. Ryback pushed Sheamus onto his back and put him in a half crab, trying to pull off his boots. The Shield entered from three different sides of the arena, converging at the ring and attacking Ryback. Sheamus took a moment at the ropes to catch his breath, getting back into the fray just after The Shield had powerbombed Ryback through a table outside the ring. Sheamus and Reigns locked up on the floor outside, and Daniel Bryan rushed into battle Rollins. Ambrose sat in the corner, rocking back and forth and laughing, knowing his love was watching in the back with the same level of amusement.
After the segment was over, Sheamus and Reigns rushed to the back, as their blood began pumping in a southern direction. Rollins and Bryan headed back to find Brie, and Ambrose ambled back alone.
"Greetings, wood nymph." Bray Wyatt said happily as he walked up to Ambrose, pecking him on the lips sweetly.
"Is the eater of worlds hungry?" Ambrose asked, knowing the answer before Bray said it
"I hunger not for the meat which perisheth" Bray murmured with an evil chuckle.
"Feed me." Ambrose chuckled, and the two laughed maniacally down the hallway. They always were too weird for anyone else but each other.
The shield met back in their hotel room, watching matches of several other superstars to scope out their next target. But as Sheamus, Bray, and Bryan inevitably called their respective men away, the matches were forgotten, and they each flew into their beloved's arms.
The men met to coordinate things for Raw Xtreme. The superstars met in teams, arranging this massive event. Even in their planning, if one looked close enough, glimpses of dissention seemed to leak between them. Soon the Shield knew exactly how things would be arranged between them. But even as they panned, three different perspectives showed between them. Rollins was fighting Bryan's archenemy, Ambrose was fighting his boyfriend, and Reigns was fighting to vent his frustration at being cheated out of a match.
Soon the night came for Raw Xtreme. The Shield had made their entrances, and had made quick, vengeful work of the Wyatts. It all came down to one moment, in which Ambrose had the chain wrapped around Bray's neck, prepared to throw him across the ring. For a moment, Ambrose hesitated, worrying that he might have the chain adjusted too tight, and might injure Bray severely. He checked the chains for the tenth time. He couldn't do it. He punched Bray in frustration, yelling. Bray understood Ambrose's frustration and of his own accord fell backward, hitting the stack of chairs Seth had lassoed into a group. It was lights out for Bray, and Reigns got the pin.
Even in this victory, each celebrated differently. Each looked at each other differently. They knew no amount of hate would bind them together, because now each had found love.
