Disclaimer: I do not own True Blood.
Heavy In Your Arms
"I was a heavy heart to carry, but he never let me down. When he held me in his arms, my feet never touched the ground."
The musty, dank smell of damp earth is the first thing he notices.
It was cold, he could tell, but it no longer bothered him as he thought it would. Rather, his body seemed to be the same temperature of it all.
The next thing he notices, as he comes to, is the feeling of small, but strong arms wrapped around his torso and a head resting along the crook of his neck. The boy, he had to have been a boy, had his body wrapped so protectively around his own that he wanted to fall back to sleep, stay there for just a few more hours…
But reality was crashing and it was crumbling the comfort he felt buried beneath the earth's surface, with that beautiful angel of death at his backside.
The ambush…his brethren, all dead before his broken body. And he was helpless to aid them. That fleeting feeling of vulnerability left the taste of vengeance, like blood, on his tongue. And suddenly that's what he wanted…blood.
The mere thought sent him into a tyrannical frenzy.
"Sleep, my son."
The voice was smooth and almost warm against his ear, causing him to jump. Those comforting arms wrapped tighter around his body, almost protective.
"There will be time for such things later, you need rest now."
And he could feel it, him, taking him under and pulling him farther into the earth, soft and pliable as it slid around their joined bodies.
Then, for some reason, he trusted the young man behind him. Knew without a fraction of a doubt that his words were true, as they always would be.
And he followed him back to slumber until the weary sun fell, and his now eternal companion, the moon, rose over the sky and granted him permission to roam.
In this new life.
With this new partner.
Author's Note: My first story in the True Blood fandom. And...it's kinda scary. These two are my favorite characters in the series so far...besides Lafayette and Franklin but that's another story altogether. I hope I did my boy proud, the lovely, sexy Eric Northman. God he makes me want to rape myself. Whew. Anyways...the song is Heavy In Your Arms by Florence and the Machine. Reviews are love. Specially cuz I'm nervous about the new fandom. -Delta
