Rachel Berry was a diva, a princess.
Keyword: was.
Her dads treated her like royalty, showering her with love. And when he came along, she was certain that she was a princess who had found her Prince Charming. She was also a diva. Nothing, nothing, got in her way of her ambitions and dreams. She was unstoppable: like a cannonball headed for its target.
But sometimes cannonballs run out of power and fall halfway through the journey.
The rain poured down. She felt the droplets falling onto her hair, matting her bangs to her forehead. The wind blew furiously, taunting her as she looked down onto the pavement below.
Rachel was absolutely devastated after the car accident that took two Glee clubbers' lives.
Puck had been driving, because Finn's license had been suspended. None of them saw through the heavy rain, the drunk driver speeding towards them.
It didn't have a happy ending.
Rachel felt broken, like nothing would ever help her recover from the tragedy. All the other Glee clubbers did too, but they eventually came out if their depression and encouraged Rachel to do the same.
It didn't work.
Why Rachel was the only one who didn't recover, they didn't know. But it had something to do with her starry-eyed dreams.
Rachel's dream all along had been to become a successful Broadway star. But when Glee Club 2009 came along, it became different. It was to become a successful Broadway star, along with a supportive husband by her side that she could live happily ever after with.
But fairytales don't ever work out in real life, do they?
Looking back at the past her, Rachel felt amused, despite her situation. How could she have been so ignorant, thinking that her life would go according to her carefully thought out plan, just like a fairytale?
She gave a bitter laugh, looking down onto the pavement which seemed about twenty stories away. Actually, it was.
Rachel blinked the water, comprising both tears and rain, out of her dull brown eyes. The spark had run away, a long time ago, the moment she had received the phone call that Puck and Finn had been in an accident.
Rachel composed herself, wiping the momentary smile off her face. Who was she, to think that fairytales really did happen in real life? Thinking that she was the princess, living happily ever after with the prince. "I'm sorry, Noah. I just can't."
Well, the prince had died, and so had the princess in her soul. Rachel felt empty, like a bottomless pit of despair. She took a deep breath, comforting herself with the fact that it was probably going to be one of her last, and jumped. She took the plunge down.
The piece of paper she had held in her hand dislodged itself through the strong winds, fluttering forlornly onto the hard stone pavement. Words of encouragement scrawled in Puck's messy handwriting for whenever Rachel felt down began to blur together as the rainwater smudged the blue ink.
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
However, below it was another set of lyrics, printed carefully in Rachel's neat handwriting as if she had wanted to prolong the time taken to write the words.
Nothin' left to figure out
That I don't think I'll ever break through
The ghost of you
The princess had fallen from her tower, and she wasn't getting back up again.
Well, I'm desperate for reviews for my other Glee story 'Exterminio'. So if you liked this or my other oneshot 'Speak Now', you could help me out by reading that one and reviewing instead of these XD These are just my own side projects, because boomzgleeks is essentially a combined account. Oh well. This is short, I know.
