Love Eulogy
Because Shiki was never good at losing anything.
Disclaimer: I don't own Gakuen Alice or the quote at the bottom.
This is for anybody who loves the pairing of ShikiYuka, just because we can. :)

You hold a small picture in your hands, a crumpled evidence of your emotional distress. You observe it closely.
The incandescent light that you saw in her still stays luminescent eternally, pounding you into a black hole of which you lose yourself in.
Her hand in your hands in the photograph only makes you fall deeper into despair.
You dream of the future.
Without Yuka? Was there any future?
Of misunderstandings. Of never being seen the way you implored her to.
Of never being seen again.
You look up to her face, as calm and collected as you always knew. The defeatist attitude was one she definitely didn't want to see.
A flashback flows into your mind; the time when you confessed your feelings.
'You're a great friend to me,' she had said, 'I love you, but I'm afraid I can never love you the way you love me.'
Before she could breathe another word, you recalled pressing your index finger to stop her mumbling. 'I know.'
Had you ever experienced such a cruel love as this? Roughly handling you, abusing you, but still enough to leave you begging for more?
But it reminded you more so of your love for her. A fact that made you hate love internally, realizing that this emotion had taken the best of your life.
You wanted to be the one to protect her. The one who stood by her side, despite not being chosen. And somewhere, in the crevices of your mind, wished that she would see you. Really see you.
Yet it was too late. She made up her mind, and her decision was final. You were always meant to be stuck in a two way mirror, forever watching over her, but forever invisible.
Oh, how you miss her.
The way she wrapped her short hair around her ear gracefully after each and every battle. It never ceased to amaze you.
You grasp onto the air tightly, as if waiting for her to transport into your arms. Waiting for nothing, yet waiting for everything at the same time.
You can't stop the water rolling off of your tear ducts; they seemingly have a mind of their own. You put your hands together and add more sighs into the wind.
A prayer? As if you believed in that shit.
You've talked to God one too many times. And he's never replied.
So you look up, into the blue sky, towards your lost unrequited love.
Yuka,
I'm exhausted.
Still standing in your two way mirror, you walk with her memories in your hands, and never look back.

"If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever."
–The Crow (1994)
Whatcha think? I know, I know. Really angst-y. But still. I wanted to do this.
