Disclaimer: Don't own. Don't sue.

It's pretty short, but it's just a notion I had, so roll with it.

And they'll call you a hero without knowing the entire story, but who ever knows the entire story. Details are elongated and some are just plain left out of the story all together. No one really cares though, because regardless of the details that slips through the cracks of the truth it still is an epic tale with epic adventures of epic proportions. No one will realize that you were once sneered at and called a liar in the worst of times, because the worst of times is over and you have proven that you still are here and the plague of the wizarding world is not.

And they'll call you a hero because that's all they've ever known with your name. Wide eyes and open mouths in awe is the only things little kids can do when they hear their parents speak of you, because they never knew who you truly were, but then again, neither did their parents. You are only a shadow in a legend that will be sold in bookstores and told as bedtimes stories to those same little kids, with their mouths open wide in wonderment and their eyes pried open with the sheer enchantment of it all.

And they'll call you a hero because they don't truly know you and they never understood what you spent most of your life fighting for. It wasn't for worship or to prove something, anything, to the world. You fought for your survival and for those around you, because what else could you have done? Let more people die for the sake of you and your name? No, you couldn't do that, because then you would need to die. Death would be a release to the sorrow of what the world has taken from you and what you have given and sacrificed, but never received a wonderful bounty in return. Instincts took over and you fought nail and tooth to keep your life and the lives of the nearest to you. Misery and dark times were the price of it all, but in a world now filled with hope and cheer, with love and peace, to you it seems like such a very small price.

And they'll call you a hero when the media does, because who else would they listen to? Surely not you. No, they'd never listen to you. Oh, you're just being modest. Of course you're a damned hero. You defeated Voldemort for Merlin's sake! The memories the past headlines are snubbed out, like a tiny ember in the fireplace trying to keep a light, but the entire force of the world is against it. No one mentions all the hideous and shameful titles The Daily Prophet produced. When it is mentioned, it is quickly thrown off the table, a sporting topic like the Word Quidditch Finals is loudly announced; the broom that sweeps the dirt under the rug.

So with a resigned sigh and shake of your head, you'll retreat from your arguments that you are in fact not a hero. Just a young man, that yearned so badly for a normal life, with normal friends under normal circumstances. But you are not just a young man with a normal life, with normal friends under normal circumstances.

No, you are a hero to the wizarding world. You are Harry Potter.

See, pretty damn short. I forgot what it was like to write such small pieces.

Reviews would be nice. :) It'd make my pantelones sing. That's right.
