Oh no! Not another really really SHORT W13 one-shot!
Oh my gosh, I still can't get over my emotions for the finale. It just won't be possible. Hey, do you guys think Steve will be in the Christmas eppy? I really hope so! Okay, I also thought of doing a songfic about the entire warehouse family to "You'll be in my heart by Phil Collins", based off a youtube video about them(: Good idea? Bad?
It's a good thing she doesn't remember. But if she thinks hard, really really hard, she can remember how cold his hand was against hers. The empty look in his eyes. The almost gruesome way his head hung over the back of the chair.
And then she breaks down.
Just like she's been doing every time she thinks of him. She refuses to except he's gone.
Claudia Donovan refuses to except that Steve Jinks is gone.
He was part of their team. He may have been the new guy, but he was part of the family. He laughed at Pete's jokes. He baked Artie cookies. He read books with Myka. He helped Leena with inventory when the rest of the team was gone. He was part of their family. She knew he wasn't working for Sykes. Claudia knew he would never ever betray her like that. And she was right, wasn't she?
Not that it mattered now. She couldn't change anything now, could she? Claudia couldn't go back, and tell Jane not to hire him. She could have told Pete not to drive into the woods. She could have ran faster from Steve, so he never would have caught her. What if she had?
What if?
Would he still be alive? Would he still be laughin with Pete? Baking for Artie? Reading with Myka?
He would still be able to dangle the keys to the Prius over her head, just out of her reach. He would still be able to playfully steal one of her purple gloves, and then have no idea where it went. He would still be able to drag her to his room to watch old civil war movies with him. He would be able to buy her the ceramic clown he swore he'd get Claudia for her birthday. He would still be alive.
Claudia had to do something. She'd never had a family to protect before. Ohana.
Because Ohana means family. And family means no one gets left behind.
