Sylar, age 10:

Gabriel Gray sat on his lawn, gently rolling a blade of grass between his fingers.

"Gabriel!" he heard his mother call from inside.

Gabriel slowly stood up and went back in the house and there he found his mother. Gabriel's mother, Virginia Gray, was a timid woman with strawberry blond hair who collected snow globes obsessively.

"My watch hasn't been working right, and I'm no good with watches. I was wondering if you had your father's gift for fixing clocks," Virginia said, frowning slightly at the thought of Martin Gray, Gabriel's departed father.

"Yes, I'll try to help," Gabriel answered.

Virginia smiled and took the watch off her wrist, handing it to him. An overwhelming feeling came over Gabriel, and he knew exactly what was wrong with the watch. Gabriel, grabbing a small screw driver off the kitchen counter, took the back off the watch. Examining the watch, Gabriel screwed one part and gave it back to his mother.

"You fixed it! How did you do that?" Virginia cried with glee.

"I just knew somehow… the case screw was a little loose," Gabriel answered, grinning with pride.

"You are one smart kid," Virginia replied, shaking her head.
