Cookie Time

"Dennis you know the rules sweetie. No cookies before dinner" Mavis said with her hands on her hips. Her face was sweet and loving but stern not even Dennis's soleful eyes or pouty face worked. "But they smell so good" little Dennis thought to himself as he eyed the cookies that Quasimodo Wilson just made. "Sweetie come on?" was all Mavis said as she held her hand out for Dennis to come. Dennis couldn't help but continue to look at the fresh baked cookies as Mavis led him out of the kitchen.

Seconds later Winnie came out of her hiding place once she thought the coast was cleared. She like Dennis smelled the wonderful scent of cookies; and couldn't wait to have one. Winnie told herself that she'd just have one but sadly that wasn't the case. They were so good that she ate every single one of them. Just as she finished the last cookie Winnie heard a noise that caused her to suddenly jump. Quickly Winnie scampered away so she wouldn't be seen; from her hiding spot Winnie saw Dennis reentered the kitchen this time without Mavis.

Dennis knew he shouldn't be doing what he's actually doing. He knew his mother wouldn't approve but maybe she'd let it slide if he had just one. So when he put his little hand he was surprised to find only crumbs "Uh!?" was all Dennis thought to himself. But at that moment in time Mavis came into the kitchen looking for Dennis. Before Dennis could say anything Mavis marched over to her son with her hands on her hips. The look on her face Dennis knew left no room for argument.

"How could you!?" Mavis said gesturing to the now disappeared cookies. "But but but" was all Dennis said as tears started to welled up in his eyes. "I told you no cookies before dinner and look what you did!" Mavis knew she was probably blowing this out of proportion but she was so angry at her son that she didn't care. "But but but" Dennis started to say once again to no avail nothing whatever Dennis say or did worked. He couldn't sway his mother into believing he was telling the truth. Grabbing Dennis by the shoulder as she guided Dennis out of the kitchen once again; Mavis said " For the time being your grounded until further notice Dennis."

Dennis said nothing except to have his head hanging low in defeat as he followed his mother out of the kitchen. Dennis was beginning to think that no one would believe him. But Dennis was wrong grandpa Drac saw the whole thing and he wasn't happy at all. So he simply followed the cookie crumbs to the culprit in question and once he did Winnie folded her ears down in defeat at being caught. After a stern talking to by both Drac, Wayne and his wife and Mavis Winnie immediately apologized and promised not to do it again. Mavis who by now felt riddled with guilt for yelling at Dennis earlier. Went to his room and knocked on his door hearing Dennis crying on the other side made Mavis feel even worse than before. Waiting for Dennis to calm down Mavis then entered his room to apologize for the way she acted before and that she should've listened to him and not her guilty conscience and for that she is truly sorry. Dennis said nothing as he gave his mother a hug because he was glad that someone believed him. But he also felt sorry for Winnie though as well as angry because she got him into trouble.
