Sam turned back to face the rift after Dean had shoved him through. He wanted to go back, he had to. He couldn't leave Gabriel's body in that other realm. Dean must have known what he was thinking caused he grabbed Sam when he came through and barked something to Rowena.

Sam didn't listen he was too busy fighting to get loose. Castiel watched with sad eyes knowing that Sam was in pain. They had only just gotten Gabriel back. He knew there was something between him and Gabriel but it was never spoken of.

Giving Dean a understanding look he turned and began to start taking care of those they had brought back with them. Ketch had already excused himself to go to the room he had claimed to freshen up, which left Castiel with the task of finding places for the others.

Sam ripped himself away from Dean and stormed out of the room. He was so mad and upset. After entering his room he slammed the door shut and threw his bag across the room. Falling to his knees he began to let out silent sobs.

He began praying, begging Chuck to bring him back. He had just gotten him back, he couldn't be gone again his head he started to remember the night before they entered the rift, their last night.

Gabriel had wrapped him in his wings, traced his fingers along his skin, and apologized for being away from his moose for so long. Sam had forgiven him, had understood why he had disappeared again. Had made him at least promise next time to at least let him know cause he was good at keeping secrets.

Standing up Sam slid off his jacket and threw it in the chair in the corner. A chair that had been conjured there the day after Gabriel had come back to put the books so they could have the bed to themselves. Gabriel had also enlarged the bed so they wouldn't fall off. Sam hated it, he was now going to be forced to sleep in the bed alone, and to mourn his love again.

Moving to his dresser he took his stuff out of his pockets and began placing them on the top. It was then he noticed a envelope addressed to him. Picking it up he moved to the bed to read it.

My dearest moose,

We don't know what the other world will hold so I wrote this just in case, I hope you never have to read it. Just in case I wanted you to know how I felt. For those years I was held captive my only thought was of you. When Ketch got me out of there I was so scared of where he was taking me, but i was so happy when he pulled me forward to face you. The look in your eyes made things easier to know you still loved me despite having been gone so long.

You have grown so much while I was gone become even more hansome and so much more wiser. I appreciate it that you were so gentle with me when you took care of taking the stitches out of my lips, and when trying to at least take care of me while I was still frightened.

Sam Winchester it was always said the love between a angel and a human was a complicated affair but with us it never was. I am honoured to have known you, and I will forever love you. Enclosed within is a single gift for you a feather from my wings for you to cherish.

Love always your Gabriel

Sam had tears rolling down his face by the end of the letter. He hadn't heard his door open or the footsteps as Dean approached the bed. He was so torn between the letter and his final death.

Dean sat down beside Sam and put his arm aorund him. He knew his brother needed him, he didn't know what he was feeling but he knew he had to support him.

Staying in silence the boys reflected in their own memories of those they lost, and of what could happen now that they were back.
