Hello everyone,
This is my first Doctor Who one shot, I hope you all enjoy it.
As I mentioned in the description it's set during 'Day of the Doctor' but uses information discovered in 'Listen' so don't read on if you haven't seen that episode and don't want spolers.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and please let me know what you think.
Time Lord's of Gallifrey, Daleks of Skaro.
The greatest battle of them all, a war so deadly and so all consuming that it was threatening to rip the universe apart. He saw his city, Arcadia, burn before his eyes and a fear rose in his hearts, though he knew that he could do nothing to save them. He desperately wanted to, he wanted to be the Doctor again, the man who makes people better, but those days were gone.
I serve notice on you all.
The TARDIS landed a mile or so away from the spot that the Doctor had in mind.
He picked up the sack, the Moment digging into his back as he turned and said a fond goodbye to the ship that had taken him so far and shown him so many wonders. He smiled, sadly, the very least he could do for her was to keep her from the eye of the storm.
He walked out of the TARDIS for the last time and his hand lingered on the door.
Too long has stayed my hand, no more.
His feet made imprints in the thick layer of sand beneath his feet, his boots crunching against it. The Moment obediently dug into his side every step of the way to the place where he had planned to end it all. He walked along , as certain areas began to remind him of a childhood he must have had, though it all seemed like a dream to him.
He heard laughter, the voices of brothers he once had. They used to laugh and play in this sand and run down the hills.
Today you leave me no choice, Today this war ends.
He couldn't lose anything else, except his life. He didn't want to watch the universe burn, but he didn't want to watch his people burn either. But that was the choice he'd made, when he was just eight years old he had chosen to be the Doctor, he couldn't back down now that things were starting to get tough.
No more.
Where else could he, a scared, lonely little boy, go?
The only place anyone else would go to. Home
The house that was once attached to that little hut had gone now, but the barn was still there, the place he had dreamed of being a time lord, the place he ran to when he needed to be alone. It was so very quiet, the sound of screeching in the distance, an animal roaming what was left of the forest of silver leaves. It was so difficult to believe that Arcadia, the great battle ground of the Dalek's and the Time Lords was even remotely close to this place.
No more.
This was a good place to die.
The barn door shut behind him.
