Lily sat down at the kitchen table with a pile of mail in front of her. It was time to pay the bills. She sighed as she delved into the daunting task. She was concentrating so completely on the bills, that she didn't hear Harry until it was too late. He came crashing into the kitchen on his toy broomstick.

Sirius had recently given it to him for his first birthday. It only hovered a few feet off of the ground, and Harry absolutely adored it. However, Lily despised the thing. He knocked over a vase of flowers that was resting on the island just as James came running into the kitchen, panting heavily.

"Harry James Potter, you get that thing out of this kitchen! For god's sake James, get him outside!" Lily shrieked. Harry continued to wreak havoc on the poor kitchen, until Lily got him to fly out again. "Keep the BLOODY BROOM OUT OF MY HOUSE!"

She repaired the broken vase with her wand. She went back to working on the bills again, hoping to god that Harry would for once just stay outside. Harry got in again and repeated the same scene as before. The third time however, she was not so lucky.

Harry Potter managed to knock all the bills and papers on the table to the floor, scrambling them all up. Lily blew up. She wrenched Harry off his broom and set him on his feet. She pulled out her wand and waved it, the broom obediently disappeared. Harry started to bawl his eyes out at the loss of his oh so wonderful toy.

"What did you do?"

"I sent it to Sirius' house. I have work to get done James, I can't have any distractions right now. If he wants to ride his bloody broom, take him there. Never again will that wretched broom come within a hundred yards of this house!"

"Fine!" James picked up the sobbing child and disaparated to Sirius' house, which Harry began to destroy the second he got his broom back.

Lily could not have been any happier. She had the house to herself, and it was completely silent. The two boys (yes James was still more boy than man) would not be home for at least another two hours. She repaired the damage to the kitchen in a few second with her wand. Then she dragged herself over to the couch. "Might as well do something useful." She collapsed on the couch.

"Screw 'terrible twos'. It's the ones you should be afraid of." She mumbled into the couch pillow as she fell asleep. Too bad she only had two hours…
