"Ritsuka-kun! Watch out!" Yuiko's voice caused Ritsuka's head to snap up—but did not give him enough warning to dodge the volley ball flying towards his head.

The ball hit the boy smack in the forehead and practically bowled him over. Yuiko was beside him instantly, fretting over whether he should se the nurse or not. Ritsuka held up a hand to stop her incessant chatter while he tried to regain his equilibrium. He assessed himself quickly; he patted his head for bumps and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. He opened his eyes to smile at his friend but noticed that she was staring at him with an expression of horror.

"Yuiko…?"

The girl bent down and picked up a black headband of the ground—the headband he'd been wearing so that no one would realize that his ears were missing. A large sweat drop appeared as he scratched the back of his head sheepishly.

"About that… that's an interesting story Yuiko…"

"Interesting story? Your ears are gone!" She exclaimed shrilly.

"Yuiko, please." He said softly, his eyes begging his friend to calm down.

Yuiko wasn't as dumb as everyone thought and she caught the hint. With shaking she pushed the band back onto Ritsuka's head and smiled. It wasn't her place to ask questions.

"You're trying to figure out who it is, aren't you?"

Yuiko went to deny the question when she saw Soubi approaching them—then she realized that she didn't need to ask. She already knew.
