A/N: This is for the HalfBaked challenge on HPFC. I wrote this in about fifteen minutes, so I apologize for any mistakes.
It was almost midnight on a cold, dreary winter day. Severus Snape was rifling through his potion's notes as he worked on a particularly difficult potion. He was disturbed by an echoing knock on his front door. Being an ex-Death Eater and spy for the Light, he was suspicious. There was another, more frantic knock on the door as he pulled out his wand and slowly approached his door from the side. He cracked it open to find his godson's wife standing in the raging blizzard outside. He quickly opened the door and allowed her entrance to his bleak house. He took her coat and led her to a chair next to the fire. He went to his kitchen and started a pot of tea.
"Astoria, for what reason have you come to me in the middle of the night?" Severus asked in his silky, baritone voice.
"It's Draco. I… I just found something out and I thought he would be happy about the news, but he was furious and I didn't know where to turn and I thought of you and I just felt horrible and I'm sorry for barging in on you, and I guess I'll leave. I'm sorry for intruding." Astoria Malfoy, formerly Greengrass, babbled as she stood up to take her leave.
"Sit down, Astoria. May I inquire as to the news of which you shared with Draco?" Severus questioned as he calmed her down.
"I… I'm pregnant. I just found out a couple of days ago and I wanted to tell Draco when I was prepared. When I told him, he just flipped. I was expecting him to be happy that I would bear him a child. I don't know what to do about him." Astoria said as tears started to fall.
"Draco is just afraid that the child will turn out like his father or himself. He knows that until the day he dies, he will be haunted by what he did as a sixteen year old boy. He doesn't want his child to have a father he or she will be ashamed of." Severus explained as he handed Astoria a cup of tea.
"Thank you, Severus. I think I should be getting back to Draco. Good night." Astoria said to Severus.
After Astoria left that night, old Death Eaters came by Severus Snape's house. They burned his tiny home on Spinners End and dragged him out of his house. They tortured him and carved the word 'TRAITOR' into his chest. He was then left to die in front of Hogwarts gates.
When Astoria attended his funeral, she left a thank you note on his casket as she held Draco's hand.
