Teddy Lupin was the happiest boy on earth. This was his first year at Hogwarts! He walked through the Leaky Cauldron with his godfather, Harry. The boy noticed a lot of people staring at them. Teddy understood Harry was famous. He knew people might act this way. Harry kept walking as if nobody else was there though. They entered Diagon Alley, and Teddy started running from shop to shop.
"Teddy!" Harry called, "Teddy, wait up!"
Teddy came to a halt, and turned around sheepishly.
"Sorry Uncle Harry," he said, looking at his feet. Harry sighed.
"It's fine kiddo. Just make you watch where you're going."
Teddy grinned. "I will!" he promised.
They walked around, getting the essentials. Teddy stopped at the broom store, and put his face up against the glass. Harry laughed out loud. "Can we get one?" Teddy pleaded.
"You can't play Quidditch until next year," Harry told him, "Besides, I have something I want to buy for you instead."
This spiked the young wizard's interest. Teddy followed Harry down the street. They stopped at a pet store, and Harry motioned for Teddy to enter. The boy frowned. He was expecting a cool Harry Potter thing, not a pet. There was a lady with black hair behind the desk, who looked about Harry's age. She looked up at her customers, and beamed.
"Harry!" the woman cried. Teddy found this weird, because normally people refer to his godfather as Mr. Potter. The woman stood up and wrapped Harry in hug. Harry smiled.
"Good to see you Cho," he said. Cho pulled away from Harry.
"I can't believe it," she said, turning to Teddy, "You must be Teddy!"
"Hi," he mumbled.
"I have what you asked for," Cho said to Harry, leading the two into the back. "I don't understand why you'd want to bring a dog to Hogwarts. McGonagall will have a fit."
Harry shrugged. "That's the point."
"I'm getting a dog?" Teddy asked, bouncing up and down. Harry chuckled. Cho handed Harry a small, black, puppy.
"Now I do hope you know how much of a responsibility this is." Cho said, walking back to the front of the shop. Teddy pet the dog behind his ear. Harry smiled, almost tearfully.
"Yeah, we know." He said, passing the puppy to Teddy.
"What should I call him?" Teddy asked, hugging his pet close to his chest.
"How 'bout Padfoot?" Harry suggested, walking Teddy to the front of the store. The boy nodded.
"Padfoot. I like it."
Cho gave them the rest of the stuff they'd need, and Harry paid.
"Thanks so much for dropping by." Cho called, as they walked out of the shop.
"Who was that?" Teddy asked.
"Just an old friend," Harry replied, "Do you want to go visit Uncle George before we make our way to the platform?"
"Yeah!" Teddy exclaimed, skipping off towards the joke shop.
