He needed her.
She could feel it. He lived in her thoughts, slithered in her body, and made her dream of vicious swans pecking the eyes out of little children and ripping out their hearts. She couldn't bare to let that happen, not again. He was just a lost little lamb, a baby who had gotten into the same mischief as her Angel and her Spike. All boys needed a princess to look after, and he had simply chosen the wrong one.
Even Miss Edith, who was not fond of films or books, agreed with that.
Drusilla had seen Edward on the television. He had been magnificent. A beautiful, dark boy with her pale skin and eyes that looked like daddy's. Dru had wanted to take him straight away as her own; she had always wanted to be a mother.
Then she had seen the girl he was with. From the crook of Drusilla's arm, Miss Edith whispered vile, wicked things about Bella. She wasn't even a vampire, just a little human girl. A little human girl who had seduced and trapped her beautiful, brave Edward with lies. No, no, no! Drusilla would not lose another, and not to another human. He was to be her boy; she would teach him everything she knew, and take him to tea parties with Miss Edith. It didn't take her long to decide to find him, even if Miss Edith didn't want to go.
The moon was full and bright, and Drusilla had to force herself from giggling as she crept along her Edward's mansion. It was a wonderful night for a game of hide and seek, and Dru had always loved games. Her Edward would be so surprised, so happy to see her! Like a good mummy, she already had a meal waiting at home for him, and if he was a good boy, he might even get dessert.
She found his bedroom in the east wing of the opulent mansion. Dru approved of her boy's wealth, even if she had frowned at the mean men he had hired to protect him. A vampire only needed himself. That would be her first lesson. It was dark, and her poor Edward was still sleeping. Wasn't he eating enough? Drusilla frowned. Angel and Spike had stopped eating after they had gone and fallen in love with that girl. Perhaps it was a disease; she ought to take Edward's temperature.
She glided over to the bed and pressed a cool kiss to her new boy's forehead. He was warm, and must have eaten after all. She hoped he hadn't ruined his appetite. Tonight's supper was special, and children were always so tiring to catch.
Her Edward's eyes fluttered open, and Dru swooned over his long, dark eyelashes. "What?"
He sounded frightened, and Drusilla smiled down beatifically at him. "Don't be shy, mummy's here to bring you home."
"Bring me home? What are –"
She pressed his lips with her fingertips. "Hush, my pet. I saw you with that nasty girl on the television. The ugly birdy caught the wolf and brought him down, down, down. Mummy's come to make it all better again."
"You should go before security comes!"
"Shh, mummy took care of that already."
"Look, lady, get out of here!"
Drusilla pouted. Her child was already trying to deny her? "Don't be naughty, my Edward! You'll hurt mummy's feelings."
"You're not my mother!"
Drusilla's eyes filled with tears, and her lower lip trembled. How could her boy say such awful, wicked things to her? "You are mine! I saw you! I saw your film and came to help you!"
"Twilight? Lady, the film wasn't real! I'm just an actor!"
Dru's eyes narrowed, and her pout turned vicious. "An actor?" she asked.
Several hours later, the screams stopped ringing in her ears, and Drusilla licked the last drops of Edward's blood off her lips. Pity, she had still wanted him, but all naughty children needed to be punished. It wasn't right to tell lies.
