At first glance, only perfection.
Long blonde hair, waving gently to her waist. Big, breathtaking eyes, that looked like melted toffee. An hourglass figure, curving in all the right places.
Yes, it was true: when Rosalie Hale looked at her reflection, she definitely saw perfection.
But about when she looked deeper? What about when she looked past the physical appearance, and saw the Rosalie inside her reflected in the glass?
When she did that, she saw different things.
Jealousy. Anger. Bitterness. Pain.
That was the other reflection of Rosalie, the person beyond the lovely exterior. Each emotion a key part of her, just like her hair and her eyes and her figure were.
When Rosalie looked in the mirror, she saw two completely different people. One: the glacial beauty, the stunning girl that everyone longed to be like. But also two: the conflicted, broken woman, who felt things that Rosalie wouldn't wish on even her greatest enemies.
She tried to keep those people separate, tried to hide the second from those around her, but sometimes she couldn't. Sometimes, the two people merged.
Sometimes the jealousy could be seen pouring from her full, red lips. Sometimes the anger could found shining in her toffee eyes, hardening them to a glinting topaz.
But the pain, the bitterness that Rosalie felt…they were different.
They couldn't be shown visibly to others in tears or sadness – the physical side of Rosalie wouldn't let her cry, stopped her from weeping like she wanted.
Of course, they were there, constantly present, clinging to her hair and her curves and heart. They just couldn't be seen or felt by others.
But Rosalie could feel them.
And she could see them too. She saw them when she looked beyond the perfection, beyond her stunning appearance.
She saw them when she looked in the mirror.
