Benny listened to the gentle wisps of breath escaping the man lying on his chest. Glancing out the nearby dingy window, he went through a mental checklist. The afternoon had been busy with planning and preparing to head to their next destination and all the work had tuckered the pair out. Only issue now was that Benny couldn't find sleep. Despite his weary bones and drooping eyelids his mind wouldn't stop worrying.
He shifts his gaze to his hunter. His hunter with the light dappling of freckles across his cheeks and pink plump lips on a face of content. With that glance the vampire realizes just how happy he was now with Dean. It had begun in the most hellish of places and ended up here. Tangled together in the back of his beat up tuck on the backside of some field in the middle of nowhere.
He shut his eyes in an attempt to catch a little bit of sleep before the droned out trip ahead when he felt a small, sudden movement come from the body beside him. Casting his eyes back to the sleeping man he notices the shift in his features. The hunter's content look was now twisted into one of fright and pain, eyes running back and forth under the cover of eyelids. Concern built in Benny and he had to do something.
With a low whisper, he gives Dean a gentle shake. "Hey, brotha, wake up." The hunter wakes with a start, gasping. His leafy eyes looking the space over while his hand claws at Benny's chest. "Hey-hey, calm down, brotha. What's wrong?" He's never seen Dean so torn up.
The man looks up at Benny with a face of terror the vampire has never witnessed and it freaked him out. What could have done that to this stone wall of a man? Dean gulps a breath of air before answering, "I-I had a nightmare."
Wrapping his free hand around Dean's chest, he pulls the man in closer and kisses the crown of his head. "We can't have that now."
He pets the back of the hunter's head, humming a small tune. Dean nuzzles his head back onto Benny's chest, eyes fluttering shut and hand lacing around the vampire's torso.
Tomorrow would be hectic with trying to get everything going. With getting Dean back up and ready. Getting the impala unpacked of Benny's stuff and hauling it back into his truck. But in the end it's worth it. As long as Benny has Dean, he'll keep up this traveling in two vehicles. "G'd night, darlin'", he whispers. And with that they both drift off into an easy, warm sleep.
