With a loud bang, the delicate innards of the Sewer-surfer collapsed into themselves.
"AGAIN? REALLY?" Donnie threw his hands up in the air, a headache pounding over his left temple.
"How the shell Mikey managed to crash it into the wall, twice, in an entirely straight stretch of sewer…." The olive-green terrapin muttered to himself.
"You alright Don?" Leo poked his head around the door.
"I'm fine. However, I can't say the same for the Sewer-surfer." Don sighed.
"Well, we're going on patrol now anyway. I think you should just take a break from fussing over it. It'll still be here tomorrow." Leo advised, his face a careful mask of concern.
So Don tried to put the incident out of his mind, taking calming breaths to quiet the whirring of his mind. Of course, his brain never really stopped working overtime, and he found himself subconsciously struggling to keep busy as they journeyed through the sewers.
Facts and figures about his surroundings flew through his head. There were exactly thirteen mushrooms in one particular tunnel, although he would need to study them more closely if he wanted to identify them. There were 365 bricks on the right-side of the tunnel, the square root of which was 19.1049732. The distance from the floor to the manhole was exactly six feet.
And it was precisely two hours, seven minutes, and forty-three seconds later that they tumbled back down the ladder, their grievously injured brother borne in their arms. Leonardo was bleeding profusely in several places, his arm haemorrhaging heavily. The idiot had jumped in to help Mikey, only to get distracted telling Mikey off for teasing the Foot, and get a tanto to the arm. He had already soaked through both Raph and Mikey's masks, and there was no sign of it slowing down.
Donnie landed on the floor of the sewers, already barking out instructions to his panicking brothers. His frantic eyes landed on the rusting ladder, and traced its path up to the surface. Don's already laboured breathing hitched.
It was cruel irony that the brothers, who had so often cheated death, were technically already six feet under.
A/N: Sorry about the brief summary. I didn't know how to write it without giving too much away. Did you like it? I have no idea if it is actually six feet down from the street, but I saw it in another fic, and this little plot bunny started a hoppin' around my head. Please review, PM me, get a plane and write a message in the sky.
