It had been 3 years.

3 years without his best friend.

And he was pretty sure there would be an infinite more.

Sure, he had good friends. Friends who had went on the adventures with him. Friends who miss his best friend as well. Friends that would stay with him until the end.

But it wasn't the same.

They didn't know as much. They couldn't be there every second of the day like he was. And he knew that they didn't miss him as much as he did.

3 years ago today, Yugi Motou watched Atem go back to his egyptian friends. After some thinking, he realized that Atem was actually dead, and those doors led to most likely an afterlife of some sort.

Usually, these days, he could go and live his life. He still missed Atem, but he was happy. It was just every once in a while, the thoughts, memories, and times would flood in his brain, and he couldn't really focus as much.

That's why he didn't notice the car.

All went black.

And then painfully bright. It took him about 5 minutes to get use to it. But, when he did, he knew exactly where he was.

It was white and fluffy like a cloud and it was bright. Very different from shadow games.

There wasn't a soul in sight. There was nothing but white clouds. And him. It felt lonely. Yugi sat down and just stared straight ahead. No tears came. No emotions at all.

"Yugi?" A familiar voice boomed behind him.

"Yam… Phar… Atem." Yugi was delighted. He stood and ran straight into the Pharaoh's arms and buried his head into the taller man's chest. It was weird seeing him not wearing the same clothes as himself, but it was definitely him.

"I wasn't expecting you for decades, what are you doing here."

"I was lost in thought, and there was a car, and… here I am." Yugi raised his head to look at Atem, smiling. He never thought he would have been so happy to have died.

"Yugi, you aren't supposed to be here. Not so soon."

"Yami I…"

"No, Yugi. You need to go back home."

"How exactly?"

"I can…"

"You can send people back, but you never sent yourself back."

"I can't. The duel."

"Yami, please. I've missed you too much."

"So you know how Joey, Tea, Tristan, Duke, and so many more are feeling. Yugi you have to go back."

"I don't want to go back without you."

"We'll see each other again. Hopefully not for a long time, but we will."

"Ok Yami." Yugi lowered his head. Yami was the smart one, and he understood this kind of stuff.

"Be good Yugi. And tell everyone I miss them." And Yami kissed Yugi on his forehead.

Yugi started sparkling until he fully disappeared and Atem went back to his friends.

There was a sudden gasp, and Yugi woke up to see his grandpa and all of his friends standing around his hospital bed. Everyone had obviously been crying and were surprised to see him still breathing. So surprised, that they all started crying again.

Yugi more so than the rest.
