Illyria goes there as a daily ritual. She is with him everyday, mid-day, ten o'clock precisely. She brings flowers to him once a week. "Flowers for you, Wesley," she would say sadly. She cuts and trims his little area. Sometimes, she even talks to his neighbors on the both sides of him. She'll laugh and at times cry. He'd be surprise for she never knew how to laugh.
Illyria had lost all of her powers as a God-King. She had no choice but to live as a mortal and she had begun to slowly accept this form and all the weaknesses physical and otherwise that came with it. She had learned to laugh, with the help of Spike, she knew how to cry, when Wesley died and she definitely knew how to love, only she hadn't expected that her time on earth for loving someone would be short-lived. She knows, it time, she too, will eventually die.
She tells him, "I love you." He never answers her. But, everday, she says the same thing to him.
Today marks Wesley's one year anniversary of his tragic death. She never got a chance to tell him how she felt about him. Before his death, she told herself, "maybe tomorrow, I'll tell him tomorrow." Well, tomorrow never came. For her "I love you" was in the form of "Fred."
Everything happened so fast. It was the very first time she had learned how to cry, the day she bade him goodbye. It came out naturally.
She never had a chance to tell him all the things she had wanted to say to him. She wanted to tell him how he changed her life. She found herself in a place she thought she would never be in. She just never believed that she could love him the way she did.
"I can't believe you left me. I will close my eyes and bring back yesterday and you will be here. I have loved you from the start."
She has never been so afraid in this mortal life of hers. She didn't know what she had until she lost him. But, he was not hers to keep.
They spent their last moments together, only it was too late. So, she goes there everyday. Saying those three little words she had longed to hear, "I love you," hoping one day he will show her a sign. Maybe, a sudden gust of wind.
"Do you not know? Do you not know I love you? This pain I am feeling will never go away. It will be in me throughout eternity. Is this the price I pay for being human?"
Illyria suddenly feels a cool breeze brush against her face. She stood at a standstill and feels his presence around her, which sends cold chills throughout her body. She hears a faint whisper, "I know, I know, I love you, too."
With tears running down her face, she nods, smiles slightly and blows a kiss at him as she sees a white formation standing several feet away from her. "Are you proud of me now, Wesley? I am a human in every aspect. You have taught me well."
He smiles, with a twinkle in his eyes. "Illyria, my Illyria."
"For falling in love with a human, for falling in love with you, I will be cursed for the rest of my life. Wesley? And I would have it no other way."
