Carlotta was scared. She swung her legs on the metal bench, hoping Mamma Giovanni would collect her soon, take her back to the girl's home, and trying to figure out what the strange men wanted. There were three of them and one woman. The woman had come to talk to her first, but no matter how much she signed the word for deaf, the woman didn't get it. Same with the others. The last man had come bellowing, angry, and swinging his fists from the walls before the woman had forcibly removed him, smiling an apology.

The door opened in her peripheral vision, and she looked up to see a new man, dressed in purple. He sat facing her, and started making signs with his hands. She shook her head, not understanding these. Then he switched languages.

SEI SORDO? LO SONO ANCH'IO.

Carlotta beamed. SONO SORDO. LEI PARLA LINGUA DEI SEGNI ITALIANA! She signed excitedly.

The man in purple grinned, then his face fell. CI SONO STATI ALCUNI UOMINI CATTIVI. FAI A SAPERE QUELLO CHE VOLEVANO?

Carlotta shook her head. NON RIUSCIVO A SENTIRE LORO. E NON HO ANCORA IMPARATO A LEGGERE LE LABBRA.

The man frowned but nodded. GRAZIE.

He turned to leave but Carlotta grabbed his sleeve and signed, gesturing to his quiver. SEI SORDO COME ME, MA TU SEI UN SUPEREROE. SEI IL MIO EROE! VOGLIO ESSERE COME TE!

The man in purple smiled. SCOPRI LINGUA DEI SEGNI AMERICANO POI VENIRE A NEW YORK E IO TI FARO UN SUPEREROE.

COMO TE? Carlotta asked, extremely excited.

The man in purple laughed. MEGLIO. COME TE. And with that, he left.

Clint walked out of the room to find Natasha still ripping into Agent Hourihan for scaring the girl. He watched as the little one's caretaker came and collected her. Shortly, Natasha came and stood next to him, following his gaze.

"Made an impression?" the Black Widow asked.

Hawkeye grinned. "That girl is going to be an Avenger."

Please pardon the Italian. For one, I don't speak the language at all, and on top of that, I don't speak LIS at all, and I typed this up at work, so my only resource was Google Translate. Translations according to Google:

Sei sordo? Lo sono anch'io. – Are you deaf? I am, too.

Sono sordo. Lei parla Lingua dei Segni Italiana! – I'm deaf. You speak Italian Sign Language!

Ci sono stati alcuni uomini cattivi. Fai a sapere quello che volevano? – There were some bad men here. Do you know what they wanted?

Non riuscivo a sentire loro. E non ho ancora imparato a leggere le labbra. – I can't hear them. And I haven't learned how to read lips yet.

Grazie. – Thank you.

Se sordo come me, ma tu sei un supereroe. Sei un mio eroe! Voglio essere come te! – You're deaf like me, but you're a superhero. You're my hero! I'm going to be like you!

Scopri Lingua dei Segni Americano poi venire a New York e io ti faro un supereroe. – Learn ASL and come to New York and I'll make you a superhero.

Come te? – Like you?

Meglio. Come te. – Better. Like you.

This was to fit my personal headcanon of Clint knowing several different languages of Sign, and also to put some much-needed fatherly!Clint in the fics I write.
