AN: My first Naruto fic. So excited!

Disclaimer: If I've owned Naruto, I would be filthy rich!

For the Sand

Destruction.

Nothing else was left. There was not even single stone in a place where the many tall buildings used to stand. But the sand didn't only destroy homes and stores. It devoured anything live what came in a contact with it.

And he just sat there, his knees buried in sand. He ignored all the corpses around him. It was too late for them anyway. Nobody would be able to survive it; nobody ever did. He closed his hands in a fist in his hair and started to pull, his seafoam eyes never leaving the small body in front of him. Pain caused to his head by his own hands was only a lame punishment. He killed, yet he was still invincible.

Soon they came and his sand shield had risen, covering entirely his body. They couldn't touch him and they probably would not even dare. So he sat still, protected by his little sand cell, watching horrified ninjas checking the tore up pieces of what once use to be people. His siblings were there too. He could feel them, standing close by, not daring to look at him or talk.

They all left soon, letting him just sit there to face his own demons. His sand shell had hidden many things in his life. Even the tears, that were now streaming down his face in complete silence.

It was almost dark, when a woman came and sat right beside him. He recognized her almost immediately. It was the girl for whom Naruto was willing to risk his life so many times before. He did not remember her name, he had no reason. She was just another weak link; she was nobody.

He emerald orbes scanned him viciously, but he did not care.

To his surprise she reached down to a small unmoving body. His eyes followed her every move as she took the kitten's corpse into her arms. He watched pinkett ran her hand over the cat's spine. It almost seemed she was petting it, but the animal was still dead. Then she laid her small hand on cat's head and small portion of her chackra escaped and reached his sences. It was just like a flash. It was there and gone.

His eyes widened as the small kitten took a breath. It was a small and uneven breath, but it was a breath. The pinkhead smiled in satisfaction and moved her hand on cat's belly. Then there was the chackra signature again and cat's breathing stabilized. In a no time it opened its eyes and made a little sound. It was alive.

Gaara's eyes widened even more. This wasn't possible.

"How?" he whispered feeling his sand shield cracking and slowly falling apart. He killed and she was able to take it back.

The woman gave him a wide smile and pushed her pink locks behind her ear: "I'm a healer."

A healer? Impossible! Only three ninja in the entire world were known to resurrect and they were all long gone.

His eyebrows furrowed as he was to ask her another question, but pink haired chunin had already gotten up and was ready to leave.

"Good night, Kazekage-sama." She smiled again like nothing happened and sat the kitten down in front of him, where it was lying unmoving just a second ago. Then she left. It did not matter though, because he found a light.

And for the first time Sabaku no Gaara smiled as he scratched behind little animal's ears.

AN: Liked it? Should I make it a series or is it good as a one-shot?

PS. Sorry for the grammar... :) I sucked at it
