The engines of Sodor were very glad to have Duck back on the Island. He had been a sorely missed friend on the Island.
"Welcome back Duck!" Everyone cheered.
"So much has happened since you were last here Duck!" Thomas puffed excitedly.
"I can see that!" chuckled Duck.
"Come on Duck, we'll show you what's changed since last time!" Peeped Percy excitedly.
Duck was very intrigued by all this. But his time away on the Mainland had been awfully long- and his journey home felt just as long.
"Well I am glad to be back, but maybe it could wait until later?" He asked, much to the disappointment of the other engines.
"Why?" Percy asked.
"I don't think I'm up for much sightseeing at the moment." Duck informed his friends. He wanted to rest in the sheds for a while until he felt refreshed.
"But why not though? You were pulling coal trucks not long ago." Percy pointed out, feeling very disheartened.
"Percy, it was only to get some fresh coal for myself and Hiro when we took on that bad coal." Henry pointed out. "Duck's been given time off- how long Duck?"
"Two days- but I'd rather be working, because I've been away from the Little Western for too long. Poor Alice and Mirabel! I do hope they're alright." The Great Western pannier began fretting.
"They are, Duck." Edward puffed soothingly. "Victor's been examining them the past two days ensuring they were ready to go back to work."
Of course poor Duck was confused as he had never heard of Victor. "Who's Victor?" He asked curiously.
"He's the Works Engine who runs the Sodor Steamworks." Gordon explained snootily.
"But he's really friendly, and he said he was looking forward to meeting you." Emily added brightly.
"Hm, I'm looking forward to meeting him myself." Duck replied. "I'll thank him for seeing to the coaches."
With that, the other engines left their old friend to rest in the Shed after his trip whilst they went about their work as usual.
It felt so good to have him home again.
