"Do you know what tomorrow is?"
"I have no idea," Xemnas replied tonelessly, sorting the pile of papers on his desk. "Enlighten me, Seven."
"It's the fourteenth," he said slowly.
"Interesting."
"Valentine's Day," Saix continued carefully.
His Superior said nothing.
Saix wanted to peer into Xemnas's face to see what he was thinking.
He restrained himself with difficulty and waited for a response.
After a long while, Xemnas put his papers down and turned his chair to face Saix.
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Well, it's a day to appreciate your significant other, and," he hesitated, "and I thought we could celebrate it."
He fought to keep his voice level; a question would have shown his nervousness and then his suggestions would certainly be denied.
Xemnas rested his chin on his hand as he considered Seven's proposal.
Minutes trickled by slowly as the man thought.
"Saix, if I agreed to this, what would we do?"
"Well," Saix resisted the urge to twist his hands anxiously. "We could take the day off and," he took a deep breath, "and maybe have dinner?"
His voice rose slightly as the question left his lips.
Xemnas was quiet again; cold eyes staring at the ground.
Saix could feel sweat starting to collect on his face and neck.
When Xemnas finally raised his head again, he locked eyes with his second-in-command.
"Saix," said man straightened slightly, "I have given a lot of thought to your proposal and," Saix desperately waiting for his Superior's decision, "I think we should do as you suggested."
Saix felt his mood lift dramatically and released the breath he had been holding for over a minute.
"I shall give the whole Organization the day off to spend as they like, and I shall meet you at six for dinner. You are dismissed."
With that, Xemnas turned back to the mountain of paperwork on his desk.
Saix acknowledged the dismissal. He bowed and left.
'Superior is late,' Saix thought to himself as he waited on the Altar of Naught.
Dressed rather formally in white dress shirt and navy slacks, the man stared up at the heart-shaped moon above him.
"You're early."
The unexpected voice nearly made Saix fall off the tower.
"Just a little, I was thinking."
Turning, he saw Xemnas clad in a crisp, black suit.
Before he could ponder where his Superior had kept such an outfit, the man spoke again.
"That's good. I had to finish my paperwork before I could get here. I had hoped that I didn't bore you in waiting, but apparently you found something to do," he said quietly.
"I was fine. The moon was here to keep me company." He nodded to the huge moon hanging in the sky behind him.
Xemnas crossed to him swiftly and grabbed his hand.
"We need to leave soon or we're going to miss our reservation," he whispered.
'When had Xemnas made a dinner reservation? Was he planning on having a real date with Saix?'
"Come on."
Xemnas opened a portal and led him through.
They came out in Xemnas's office.
Saix looked around, puzzled.
"Superior, what are we doing here?"
Xemnas grinned evilly at him.
"We're going to have dinner, but not for a little bit. We have something else to do first."
He pulled Saix into his room where they spent several happy hours; dinner completely forgotten.
