Looking back on it he kinda wished the brat had never found the cat.

The Ottoman Empire had been out searching for Greece. The brat had run off again and he was getting tired of hunting him down.

"Hey brat!" He called, as he walked around, "Where are you!"

He was worried. This was a time where you always had to be on your guard, or you risk being taken over. He didn't want to lose the kid.

"Where the fuck are you!?"

It was then he saw the kid. The boy was kneeling in the dirt, and appeared to be looking at something. Curious the empire made his way over.

It was a cat. A gray and white cat to be precise. The boy was just sting there petting with a content look on his face.

"I see you made a friend."

The boy stopped and gave him an annoyed look. Behind his mask the empire smirked. He loved getting a reaction out of the kid. He expected an insult to come from the kid's mouth, not what he actually said.

"I want him."

He frowned, "What?"

The boy stood and turned towards him, the look never leaving his face, "You heard me."

"You don't need a cat."

"I said that I wanted him, not needed him."

A sigh came from the empire, a hand moving to cover his face. He liked cats himself, but what would his leader think? Then again… he thought. If he let the kid keep the cat then he might not run off as much. It would show that he wasn't as bad as the kid and the others thought.

His hand sliding from his face he said one word, "Fine."

It had barely left his lips before he found the kid standing in front of him, the cat in his arms.

"Let's go."

They had barely begun walking when they found more cats. One look at the kid and the Ottoman Empire already knew what he was going to do.

Another sigh escaping his lips he bent down to call the cats over.

In the end he brought back a cat for all of the countries under his control.

Exhausted and feeling filthy he sat in some of his furniture, already thinking of grabbing the little runaway and having them both clean up. But he wanted to see how his little gift was taken first.

He felt a smile tug at his lips when he saw little Hungary cuddling her cat. She wasn't the only one who seemed to be happy, the others looked as though they enjoyed their gifts as well.

It seems he had done something right.

There was a cat near Turkey's house.

From where he stood he stared at the mangy brown creature, seeing the bits of scaring on its face. Clearly it had seen a number of battles only to be left alone.

The cat had begun making its way over even as he stood string at it, his mind recounting the past.

He tried so hard to make his countries happy, even at his own expense. He'd hoped they'd want to stay with him if he gave them gifts. They'd loved the cats, and the cats seemed to love them. Heck the cats were still living with them even now. Somehow the things had never aged.

A cry by his feet startled him back to the present. Shaking his head from the memory he looked down. There sitting next to him was the cat, its eyes looking up at him with some sort of understanding. Slowly he bent down, a hand moving out to the cat.

"Hey there little guy."

He wasn't sure why, but he was surprised when the cat began rubbing up against him. A smile coming back to his face he scooped the cat up in his arms, hearing a purr coming from the small creature.

"So you've been left alone too huh?" A paw to his chin brought a laugh out of him as he stood and began moving to his front door, "Guess I'll take you in. We lonely fellas can keep each other company."

A happy meow was the only response he needed.
