He lay across the couch, feet propped up on one armrest, his hands linked behind his head, waiting. He sighed and tipped his hat - his most notable feature, since it was a Dr. Seuss hat but with blue and white stripes instead - and eased deeper into the couch. She's running late, he thought. Either her sister needed a drop off at the mall or traffic got jammed up again, he thought with an annoyed frown. Laying back, he started to drift off to sleep, until he heard the squeak of brakes in the front yard, and a moment later, the door opening then closing sharply, along with the sound of a few grumbles. He got up and wandered into the main hallway to find his girlfriend locking the door behind her, a bag sitting on the ground next to her, her keys still in her hand. He asked gently, 'Rough day, love?' She glanced over her shoulder at him before turning around and leaning back against the front door, sighing deeply and covering her eyes with a hand. 'Very rough,' she said, 'Had to drop my sister off at at the mall for the hundredth time today, and on the way back there was a traffic jam that took me 15 minutes to get past.' As she spoke, he walked closer, removing his hands from his pockets. "And now the car needs more gas, so that's yet another trip I have to make, this day has been a t-" but got cut off in mid-sentence as her boyfriend slid and arm around her waist and another into her hair, pressing his lips soft and warm against hers in a gentle kiss. She let out a soft moan, followed my a loud tinkle as the car keys slipped from her grip and hit the hallway floor with the niceness of the kiss, before looping her arms around his neck to return his affection with interest. After enjoying the kiss for a moment, they parted lips, and she looked into his eyes and murmured softly with a smile, 'Well...maybe this day wasn't so bad after all.'
