Warning: This contains spoilers for final fantasy X.

Now that that's out of the way. This expands on a Final Fantasy X AU idea that I had a while back. This particular little one-shot talks about Adrien's mother, who I call Yvette, and the end of her pilgrimage. If you want to read more about it, you can check out this post(remove spaces): havendance . / post / 168472031193 / more - on - the - ffx - au

I'll put in my profile too, so you can just copy and past it if that's easier.

Le Papillon walked away through the door. "Make your decision, I'll be waiting." The slamming sound that followed her departure had a ring of finality about it.

Yvette turned toward her guardians standing behind her, careful to keep her own face optimistic. The rest of them were making no such efforts. Gabe was making that face he always made when wrestling with his thoughts. Tom and Sabine were standing close to each other, like they always did when they were worried, exchanging significant glances and whispers. Nathalie's face didn't show any emotion; it was always so hard to tell what she was thinking. Master Fu was leaning on his sword and stroking his beard, clearly troubled by what they all just heard.

One of them would be her Final Aeon, and from what Le Papillon had told them, it did a whole lot more than when the Fayth lending a piece of their power.

Gabe stepped forward. "I'll do it." He was trying to be brave, but Yvette had known him far too long to be fooled by his outward facade.

"Gabe..." She knew she would die at the end of this journey, but she had hoped that he would survive.

"This has been your dream, defeating Sin. I want to help you reach it." He looked so earnest, and Yvette remembered why she'd fallen in love with him in the first place.

"No," Sabine said from beside her husband. He put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We can do it, Tom and I."

"You have Adrien, he needs a father," Tom said. "You're able to be in his life. We know we're never going to see our little Mari again," this time it was Sabine comforting her husband, "and we've accepted that. But you can still go be there for your son."

Gabe looked slightly relieved at this, he looked over to Yvette, silently asking her opinion. She nodded at him before turning to face Tom and Sabine, her guardians who'd appeared out of nowhere and who'd become some of her closest friends during the pilgrimage. "Thank you. I will accept your offer."

She could tell that Gabe was still a little unsure, he just wasn't wanting to show it. "Besides, this way you can tell Adrien all about me. Make sure that he never forgets about his Mum." She smiled at him. He always liked it when she smiled.

Gabe gave a little smile at this, but there was sadness behind his. She shouldn't have reminded him that they had nearly reached the end. "I'll do that. I'll make sure he always remembers."
