1"It Was All Worth It"

The first kiss, the first mention of "I love you."

The memories are unbearable.

Ice cream in the sunshine, dinner in the candlelight, happiness flits to darkness.

Face down in the cool grass, an arrow pierces my heart. I stretch my hand out to meet his and all I feel is cold The cold of death.

Moving would be like abandoning him, so I clutch his hand throughout the battle racing around us.

The screams of fighters and bangs of curses stop. A voice, HIS voice, rings out loud and clear, but my brain is too foggy with grief to hear it.

All I can think about is my Remus. His gray-brown hair glinting in the moonlight, firing curses at death eaters, until he was hit and fell to the ground.

Green light flashes. He springs back up in front of me and is hit face on. I fall to the ground beside his lifeless body and black out.

As I think, my bubblegum pink hair fades to brown. Someone screams "She's alive," and I see Hermionie looking at me with understanding in her eyes.

Wordlessly, she begins to help me move slowly back to the castle. Bill carries the body and I clutch Remus's hand the whole way.

I visited his grave and placed flowers under the wolf on his tombstone. When I return to the house of my mother, I collapse into a lawn chair facing the shadows.

The sound of laughter erupts from somewhere behind me. I stand upward and whirl around to see Teddy toddling towards my mother, falling face first into the grass every few steps. A

smile erupts from my mouth, forcing the shadow of grief away. My brown hair is dull all of the sudden and with a shout of delight, I send bubblegum pink hair sprouting from my scalp.

I roar and charge straight towards Teddy. The toddler smiles and stretches out his arms, fingers wriggling towards me.

I pick him up and start spinning him through the air, thinking in my head that he would never have to face the death of a loved one that wretched man again, thanks to his dad. T

hen, I said to myself, "Remus, It was all worth it." and I could have sworn that I heard his voice on the wind reply, "Yes, It all was."

This was my very first fanfic, so I decided to post it to remember...
