Okay, this is the sequel to The League, which is a modern LXG set in 2003. Now, I haven't finished that story yet, but I've had writer's block on it for a while, which is really annoying considering there's only one chapter and the epilogue left.

Well, anyway, I do not own any of the characters in this unless I say otherwise. They are owned by whoever owns them.

Well, here it is.

The League: Endgame

Prologue

He tossed his head in his sleep, slightly murmuring, his mind being assaulted by some most unwanted images.

He stared down at her as he held her in his arms. Her light blonde hair was fanned around her head, almost giving it the look of a halo. She softly coughed up some blood, and looked up at him with her dark brown eyes.

Behind the two, the man who had shot her lowered his gun, a smirk on his face. "Another time, boy," he practically cackled as he turned and leapt skyward, reaching the top of the building in a matter of seconds, a feat that no normal mortal would have been able to accomplish. "Another time," he finished. And then he was gone.

He ignored the shooter, and gazed down at his lover, as she looked at him with a mournful expression. "I'm sorry," she whispered as she gently reached a hand up and caressed his face. "Promise me something."

"Anything," he whispered, as he leaned down and gently kissed her. "Anything."

"Make sure he doesn't get away. Make sure he dies…for killing our child."

Then, as her hand slowly fell from his face, she whispered out, "I love you, T-"

And then her head fell back as her eyes lost focus and her breathing stopped.

He sat for a moment, stunned. He looked down at her, tears in his eyes.

And then, pulling her close to him, he started to sob.

He bolted upright in bed, sweat on his brow. He panted slightly, before closing his eyes, a sign of grief on his face. "Katherine," he whispered, his voice somewhat choked up, as he lay back, his eyes still closed.

The phone rang, snapping him out of his mourning state. Slightly growling he reached over and picked it up. "Hello?" he asked into the receiving end.

"Hello, Night-Hunter."

The newly-named Night-Hunter slightly grimaced at the sound of the voice as it said his codename. "Hello Nathaniel." He stood up, walking over to the window, as he looked out into the night, and down in the street, which was covered in a blanket of fog. "You didn't send some idiot to follow me again, did you?"

At this, the voice on the other end let out a laugh. "No, especially considering how you messed up the last one. No, we have a job for you."

"Whatever it is, I'm not interested," Night-Hunter stated before moving to hang the phone up.

Then the voice spoke again. "Not even if it involves, M?"

At this, Night-Hunter froze. He let out a low growl at the mentioning of that name. "I'm listening," he softly said.

"Well we don't know the full details, but, what do you say we meet, and we'll discuss business."

Night-Hunter softly sighed. "Fine. Do you have a place picked out?"

"Meet me at the nightclub by that one restaurant tomorrow night," was his answer before the soft click confirmed Night-Hunter that he had hung up. With a sigh he placed the phone back on the receiver.

He looked down at his hand, and at the small ring on his finger. Reaching over he pulled it off, and looked at it as it sat in his hand.

"For you…for our child," He whispered, before clenching his fist shut.
