Sorry this one's late, stuff kept coming up yesterday and I didn't get the chance to get this done. Anyway, here's Day 7 of the 100 Day Drabble Challenge.

"Daddy?"

Darrel Curtis Sr. looked down at his youngest son, Sodapop. He smiled and lifted the four-year-old into his lap. "Yeah, Pepsi-Cola?"

Soda had a thoughtful look on his face. "Am I gonna have a new lil' brother or sister?"

Darrel stifled a laugh. He had told the boys that they were going to have a new little brother in a couple months, but Soda refused to believe him. He figured that he had to keep asking or else the answer would change. "Pepsi, how many times do I gotta tell ya? You're gonna have a new little brother! You get to be a big brother, just like Darry is to you."

The little boy wrinkled his nose. "But then I'm gonna hafta take him around and do stuff with him and stuff. What if I don't like him?"

"You'll understand when he gets here, Sodapop. You can't not love your brother. He's a part of you, and he always will be. You may not like him all the time, yeah, but you'll love him. Trust me."

Sodapop didn't believe his father then. He thought that the baby would just be a bother. But when he saw his baby brother's big, curious gray-green eyes, he couldn't help but fall in love. It was then that he knew what his father said was true. He loved Ponyboy with all his little heart, and he always would.
