CHAPTER 2: "FORGET MY FACE"
"Johannah?" I stirred to the soft voice. Where was I?
I sat up to find I was wearing sailors clothes. I looked at the man next to me. Suddenly his name came to me. Anthony. He had long-ish brown eyes and green eyes.
"I'd thought I had lost you. Come on love. We're going to Mr. Todd's shop so he can look after you while I get a coach." he held out his hand. I took it still confused about what had happened. Memories of that night began to flow to me. Someone would tell Turpin of my escape from the asylum!
"Mr. Todd! You wait for him here, I'll return with a coach in less then half an hour. Don't worry no one will recognize you. We're safe." he said kissing me on the cheek.
"Safe? So we run away and all our dreams come true?" I asked in disgust.
"I-I hope so." he said his voice falling.
"I never had dreams, only nightmares." I said looking into his familiar green eyes.
"Johanna, when we're free of this place, all the ghosts will be gone." he said more trying more to convince him self then me.
"No Anthony, they never go away." I said knowing the ghost of Turpin memory would haunt me forever.
"I'll be right back for you, half an hour and we'll be free." he said turning and leaving.
I walked to a dresser in the middle of the far wall of the room. I picked up a picture of a woman holding her child. I wondered vaguely what happened to them when I heard the crooning voice of a woman. I quickly hid in a blood stained chest in the corner of the room.
"Beadle Beadle. No good hiding I saw you. Are you in there still Beadle, Beadle?"
"Who are you?" the mans voice was deadly.
"She's the devils wife she is. She with no pity in her heart." the woman mumbled.
"Todd?" it was Turpin's voice. "where is she?"
"Down with my neighbor." I could not hear the rest until I heard the judge cry "Benjamin Barker?!?"
"BENJAMIN BARKER!!" Mr. Todd screamed.
He walked to the chest I was hiding in and pulled me out. "Come for a shave lad?"
"N-N-No I-"
"Everybody needs a shave." he said, shoving me into his chair. There was a bloodcurdling shriek of "DIE GOD IN HEAVEN DIE!!"
"Foget my face" he said. How could I when it was covered in blood.
I fled the shop and while looking back I hit my head on a tree.
