Okay, I wrote this after a sudden burst of inspiration struck me at 2 am in the morning after finishing this awesome manga and crying till my pillow was so damp I had to flip it over so no promises this will be good.

Wow. That was a long sentence. Hope you'll like it!

Disclaimer: I don't own this manga, or it would have just ended with their wedding…which is ironic, considering this fic is about her death scene:P

"She says she wants to see you one last time…"

He entered the room, the doctor's words still ringing in his head.

One last time…

She was lying on the bed. When she saw him, she smiled. That same smile that she'd had since she was a baby… The smile that was like "a blooming flower"… The smile after which he'd named her…

"Hello Vivi,"

"Hello Hana,"

He drew up a chair next to the bed and sat down. He was wearing that special smile he reserved specially for her… The smile that used to make Hana secretly smug, because she knew that smile was for her and her alone. But this time, the smile was a bit different. His eyes were filled with the same warmth and gentleness and love they always had…but there was an underlying sadness in those eyes…an indescribable pain…

Maybe it was because she was now old, and her eyesight was not what it once was…but she thought she saw tears in his eyes.

"Don't cry, Vivi, don't cry. If you cry, Hana will want to cry too," she reached out her hand and caressed his cheek tenderly.

"Who says I'm going to cry?" he retorted, taking her hand into his own.

His hand. Young and strong, full of life. Her hand. Old and wrinkled. Her grasp fragile, like a wilting flower.

He looked exactly as he had all those years ago, when he'd first picked up that wailing bundle outside the mansion gates. Felten, Elinor, Toni… they'd all stayed the same. Only she had changed. She'd known this would happen, right from the start. But she still hadn't been prepared for how much it broke her heart. The tears she had been suppressing for so long seemed to be welling up in her eyes.

No.

She wanted Vivi to remember her still smiling, still happy, when she left this world. Instead she transferred her emotions into words.

"Thank you, Vivi. For everything. You were always by my side. From the day I was born till now. You gave me everything, from my name to my life. I was happy. And from here on, forever and ever, I'm the happiest person in the world."

There was a moment's silence, in which they simply smiled contentedly, gazing at one another.

Then Hana spoke again.

"Vivi…" her voice was trembling slightly "After I'm… gone…will you still love me? Will you still want…to be with me?"

"Of course," he brought her hand gently to his lips.

"I want to be with you forever."

Ahh…that feels nostalgic…

She saw the cherry blossoms above her, swaying in the spring breeze. The moon, glowing bright and full, hung in the night sky. Pale pink petals swirled all around her. He was leaning over her, his breath ghosting across her face softly, his eyes lit with that flaming resolve she'd seen when he had made that promise.

"Forever…and ever…" she whispered, loud enough for only him to hear.

She was getting sleepy…her eyes…it was so hard to keep them open…Her vision blurred. The only thing she saw clearly was Vivi's face. Her dear, beloved Vivi…

She smiled slightly. "Forever and ever…"

She closed her eyes.
