This one shot is very personal to me. I hope you enjoy. If you are one of those people that like to listen to music while reading these, try Giving You Up by Miley Cyrus. It didn't inspire this one shot, but it fits. Please review. This one shot is close to my heart and feedback, good or bad, would be appreciated.

The Grey In a Sea of Colours

slut.

whore.

party.

The words swirl around inside her head. She flinches, even though nothing is there. The pain. The pain hurts. Who are these people to judge her? Why do they get to decide her fate? So she had a little fun. All she did was let go of all the stress and decide to live. But not anymore.

slut.

She hasn't done anything wrong. For all those people know, she's single. For all they know, she's dating someone. No one knows. No one cares. All they see is the outfit she wears.

whore.

When a guy stopped her just to tell her that, she broke down. Her eyes turned to grey. Storm clouds crowded over her in the shape of tears. She hasn't done anything. How does he know her? Why can he so easily point and say the one word that can make her break down? She says she doesn't care, but her eyes say something else.

party.

All she did was dance. She didn't drink. No drugs. Nothing. She had fun with her girls. She lived.

bitch.

A new word. She hasn't heard that one in a while. But she learns. She learns not to get her hopes up. She knows that they will just come crashing down. Messing up is a skill, and she's had lots of practice.

colorless.

Her life is a swarm of black and white. The grey fills the spot of her friends. Or are they? Can they really be called friends when some, not all, but some of them were the ones that started this?

pretending.

She's gotten good at pretending. Every night, she breaks down in the shower, the only place where she can cry without anybody seeing or questioning. Crying is for the weak. And she's broken. Every morning, she plasters a smile on her face.

broken.

She doesn't know why she's broken. Words shouldn't hurt this much.

But that's the thing about words: Sometimes words hurt more than anything else.

Words last
