A Tad Trouble Sleeping
Neither of them had spoken for all of twenty minutes. Not since the company had left-not since the light had been turned out-not since the last 'good night'. The idea of this silence was so that the both of them could sleep, which was something that one of them hadn't done much of in a long time. Neither of them had spoken a word; but neither of them was asleep, either.
Finally Bran Davies sat up slowly, looking over at the other man in the bed. This was probably going to be one of the last nights he could look over and see his lover looking angelically peaceful the way he looked now, instead of the way he looked under so much stress of the day. He was lucky he was able to spend these last nights with him before he went back to the university. It was going to be another long, lonely year of love-letters and visits few and far between.Bran was only a little jealous that his Will Stanton was expanding his horizons. What if his love found someone who could do more for him than he could and chose that person over Bran? It was always a worry that was at the back of his mind, and he hardly thought much on it-but it was there all the same. Will stirred and Bran found himself staring into deep, shadowed blue-gray eyes, "Are you having trouble sleeping too?"Bran blinked somewhat in surprise. After a silent moment or two, he nodded, "Yeah. You looked pretty asleep, though.""Resting my eyes," Will said, "I can't sleep."Laying back down, Bran scooted over to lay on his side under the covers next to Will. He smiled at him secretively, "You haven't been sleeping much. I hear you get up at night." his smile broadened somewhat when Will pressed his face forward into Bran's t-shirt. "Anything I can do to help you sleep?""Hm...?" Will's reply came muffled from against the cotton clothe of the shirt, "No... I don't think so. I've been thinking about going back to school. How much harder it will be to study now."Bran sighed, "You're one of the most clever people I know, cariad. Why would it be hard to study?""I'll miss you far too much," Will's arms wrapped themselves around Bran's waist affectionately, "to be able to concentrate on much of anything."A smile spread across Bran's face once again, "A comforting thought, that." Bran's hand went up to stroke his hair gently."Not quite so much for me," Will said softly, "I don't want to leave you. To leave this house. I... I don't want to go back.""But you have to anyway.""...""Hm..." Bran took Will's face in his hands and lifted it to look at him, "I'll visit more. Would your roommate mind much?""He wouldn't," Will said quickly, sounding very childish, "He's never there anyway. If-if I still have the same roommate, I mean.""You might have," Bran said off-handedly. He leaned down to kiss him lightly, still maintaining his smile, "Nothing else to worry about. You going to go to sleep now, then?""I might try. But only if you promise me…""That I'll visit? I promise.""No," Will said, suddenly serious, "That you won't look at anyone else the way you look at me while I'm away."Bran snorted, "No replacements?""No."Shaking his head, he kissed him again, "No one could replace you, cariad, you know that. I'm going to go crazy without you here-this summer of having you with me has spoiled me, I think.""I'll come back on all the holidays, then.""Good..." Bran said contentedly, "Sleep now? I promise...""Alright." Will pressed his cheek against Bran's chest. He yawned."Nos da..." Bran whispered in his ear. Will smiled to himself, "Good night."
