'Hey Axel, what does it mean to smile?'
Bright green eyes watched, emotionlessly, as a blonde boy ran through the bricked streets of the twilight lit town.
'Why do you ask?'
Three kids ran in front of the blonde, laughing and yelling for him to catch up.
'Because I just realized,'
A sad chuckle slipped through pink lips as he watched blue eyes fill with joy, a musical noise coming from the boys open mouth.
'I only smile when I'm around you,'
It was his job to bring the boy back, but he couldn't bring himself to break that beautiful expression plastered on the child's face.
'I only smile for you.'
A smile graced the blonde's lips as he talked to a brunette girl; his smile only grew as she laughed at something he had said.
'Thank you.'
It hurt. It hurt to see someone else recieving the smile that was always his, and his alone.
'It's the same for me, Roxas.'
It was beautiful none the less.
The blonde smiled, a light pink coloring his cheeks. 'I... I love you Axel.'
And as he watched the group laugh and smile with each other, he decided something.
'I love you Roxas.' No hesitation.
As long as he could see still Roxas smiling,
Roxas laughed before planting a soft kiss on the redhead's cheek. Axel smiled; Roxas smiled back.
He could live with the hurt.
Roxas made him feel; Axel made Roxas live. Who needed a heart, when they had each other?
"Just keep smiling," Axel said, knowing his words were unheard, "just keep smiling."
