Dib looked at Lia. She had short blonde hair, brilliant blue eyes, and (he mentally gasped) wore a trenchcoat that showed some signs of acid (possible signs of scientific inclinations?). She wore a cute tee and an adorable blue skirt. He was in heaven.
"Why didn't Ms. Bitters introduce you to the class?"
"I don't like socializing much. I prefer observing the skies. You're gonna think this is totally crazy, but -" Lia leaned in closer. "I look for aliens."
Dib's heart leaped into his throat. "So what about Zim? I'm thinking -"
"Definitely. Hello?! That is the worst attempt at a disguise that I have ever seen! I could do better, and I don't have many resources. Other than a programmer for a mom, a dad who is the new owner of Bloaty's Pizza Hog, and a decent lab."
Dib smiled. "My dad's not bad at science himself-"
"I know! Your dad is a genius! I watch his show constantly! I happen to disagree with some of his theories on quantum physics in his treatises, however."
Dib, eager to change the subject, asked Lia what book she was reading. "It's not a book, it's more of a hologram/computer/supernatural thingy. I'm still trying to figure it out."
"Oh. You've got a spell drive."
"A what?"
"A computer that stores magical energy instead of information. Instead of a hard drive, it's a spell drive."
"Neat!" The bell rang. "I guess we better get to class."
"Yeah... ...I guess so."
Mentally praising himself, Dmitri walked off happily, until he got whacked in the face with a locker that was left open - and Lia saw the whole thing.
