Frog Eggs

Prince Naveen, Tiana, Ray, and Louis were still on their way to Mama Odies when they stopped on a count of Louis sitting in yet another prickly bush. Oh the fun Ray had pulling out countless thorns for a good number of hours.

The two frogs tried to watch out of boredom, but after a while even that became boring. Tiana layed back in the grass and began gazing at the stars.

"The stars are so beautiful tonight," she said as she looked all around her.

"Yes. Beautiful." Replied Naveen not once removing his gaze at Tiana.

The waitress motioned for him to lay to down next to her so he could get a better view too. He quickly layed down, and was in awe at what she had been seeing.

"That little cluster of stars over there is the little dipper, and that bigger cluster is the big dipper. My father would sometimes look at the stars with me, back when I was younger."

Tiana had a look on her face like she was trying to recall a distant memory. Naveen dared not to intrupt her. "But you know, it's nice being able to share some memories I have of my dad with someone other than my mom for a change." It was getting late and the two leaned towards each other and found they had sucumbed to sleep.

The next morning Naveen woke with a stretch and a large yawn. As he sat his arm down, he felt something unusual beneath it. Looking he saw dozens of tiny green balls all set in a pile. His worse fears came to him as he began to think what they could be. The prince had never see frog eggs in real life, yet all he knew they were small round eggs.

In his mind he was beginning to panic. He was gonna be a dad, and have god knows how many children to take care of. Naveen got up and started pacing trying to figure out what to do. This might be a problem with traveling the world if you have dozens of frog children he came to realize.

"Get up sleeping, ah you're already up." Said Tiana as she put on her leaf apron. "Come on I need you to mince those sweet peas." She said handing Naveen a rock/ tiny knight. The Prince had a horrified look on his face.

"You want me to hurt our babies." He exclaimed.

This stopped the waitress dead in her tracks. She quickly spun back around.

"Woah, woah, woah hold up, our WHAT?"

"But the babies." Naveen said timidly as he pointed to the pile. As Tiana leaned over to see, she began to laugh hysterically.

"Quiet, you'll wake the babies." Hushed Naveen as he began to rock two of the small orbs in his arms as though they were infants.

"N-naveen." Tiana mustered through the giggles. "Those are the sweet pea plants I asked Louis to dig up for breakfest. Not frog eggs." The frog prince turned bright red at knowing this, and let the peas he'd been holding fall back into the pile.

"They're not our babies." He mumbled trying to not look at Tiana.

"The only babies I hope you have are with Lottie, you're marring her after all."

"... Right..." replied Naveen.

As he minced the sweet peas, he thought what life would be like if he and Tiana really did have a child. She no doubt would be a good mother, but he began to question if he would ever be ready to be a father. The Prince quickly swatted the troublesome thought away. He would marry Charlote, then do whatever he pleased.

Tiana was a girl who could and probably would settle down if the right man came along. She was strong, independent, smart, and beautiful. He stopped those thoughts and tried to remember her flaws to forget her beauty.

"She's a stick-in-the-mud." He repeated over and over again in his head. He looked over to her. Ray was handing off some of the supplies Tiana had sent him to get.

They appeared in a pleasent conversation, and it sent a reminder to Naveen. A reminder that one day, he would have to say good-bye to Tiana, and then she probably would find a husband. Another man. Suddenly Naveen didn't want that day to come.
