Author Note- So I'm sorry for the very long hiatus, but I am back. And I decide to rewrite my two main stories. So here is the newer version. I hope you like it.

Disclaimer- I do not own any of the character, except Daichi.

Dark rain clouds loomed over the night sky covering up the light of the moon that was daring to peak out every so often. Heavy drops of rain poured down rapidly on top of the trees, while strong gusts of wind danced their way through the bark, causing them to bend from pressure. The woodland creatures scurried frantically to their homes, silencing the night from the usual tune of chattery crickets and hoots of the owls.

Just like their creature counterparts, people took solace in their homes, taking shelter from this horrid night by curling up around the warmth of the fire or cloaked in their blankets asleep. Not one single person would wish to be caught in this sort of weather; however, one poor fool seemed to be down on his luck on this lovely night. No, instead of being cozied up to his fire like the others, he was stuck out in the middle of this weather, fighting the winds just to reach home. In this weather, being able to relax and keep cozy seemed like a dream at the moment.

Grunting to himself, the blonde male just couldn't believe how the time had just flown by when he was working that day. He had only meant to work for a few hours on the farm, just long enough to earn his normal pay, but it seemed that the fence he and another worker had put up a few months ago had inconveniently broke. Unenthusiastically, he found himself spending the day to fix the tear, and by himself to add, due to his partner taking leave in order to tend to his ill wife. At that point, he didn't really see his day unlucky, even if that event was the beginning. However, Naruto couldn't bare to put the blame on his friend; if he were ever in the same situation and his wife had fallen ill, he would have done the same; that is, if he actually had someone to call his beloved.

With a great sigh, he ran his fingers through his short, drenched blond locks in thanks to the massive downpour. Tilting his head up towards the sky in hope, the blue-eyed male couldn't help but close his eyes and pause to relish in the feel of the water droplets bursting on his sun-kissed skin. This was a moment he never truly got any more; to just stand, relax, and appreciate the serendipitous occasion. It'd be a lie to say he was a bad-looking male; no, many of the eligible woman in his small village would stand and admiringly stare as he sauntered by with heart-struck eyes; yet none of those girls seemed to catch his eyes.

It wasn't that he was gay; oh no, he quite loved woman, he happened to have had his fair share of crushes as a young lad. Even a few moments with a younger girl here or there, but none of that trailed past kissing. Perhaps it was because he knew they didn't truly care about him, it was just money and good looks that they saw through their eyes. They only seemed to care about the man who can provide them ample standing to show off to the other woman, and of course, use him for bragging rights.

Chuckling to himself, he couldn't help but remember all the ridiculous outfits the young ladies would wear in hopes to catch his much-wanted attention. They used the excuse of everything they wore as the latest fashion, but they all reminded him of some old, worn doll with too much make-up and poof to their gowns. What really tickled his humor was when their fathers came up to him in hopes that he would gladly accept their daughter's hand in marriage. It often left an unpleasantly bitter taste in his mouth, even though he rejected with the utmost sincerity as not to offend anyone in the slightest. However, Naruto couldn't help but notice the sad-stricken faces as they left his presence. It wasn't something he truly liked to do to be honest, but for the sake of making himself happy, it was always to be done.

Twisting his head from side to side, till a soft crack reverberated through his ears, he allowed a dreary sigh to escape his lips. It was about time for him to head back to reality. Rubbing the back of his neck, he couldn't help but wonder if his standards were a little to high. Maybe he was just picky? Or perhaps he should just settle down with one of this giddy girls from town, just like his mother pleaded for every time he saw her.

Smiling to himself, he couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of his mother. She was such a funny little thing, with her high-strung temper and childish ways. It wasn't a surprise she was always giving him a harsh scolding about how he was going to end up alone, and she was never going to get her grandchildren. It was just a week ago when she let her favorite and notorious line leave her lips:

"Naruto! You are my only child, my sweet little son and I love you with all my heart. But I swear to God, if you do not settle down soon and give me grandchildren, I swear boy, I will..."

The sight was all together humorous, with the way his mother's graying red hair would fly all over the place as she flung her arms around as to emphasize her point. Deep in her heart, she was just hoping, wishing that her "little" boy would grow out of his bachelorhood- to her the whole thing was "tiring and annoying", or that's how she likes to put it. Alas, just like stated before, none of the women ever seemed to catch his interest.

Confidently, he could say he knew what kind of woman he wanted, and it wasn't any of these women who just saw his looks and money; no, he wanted one whom didn't care for any of that. The kind of girl he dreamed about was a sweetheart, someone who just by smiling could brighten his whole world in a matter of minutes even the darkest of days. She wouldn't care if they were poor or living the high life, no she would gladly live for just the minutes they got to spend together.

Yet as days passed by, Naruto couldn't help but believe that type of woman was nonexistent, just a figment of his peace-filled imagination. She would never be within reach, because she was just unachievable and this thought made him realize that as soon as he hits those late twenties he'd have to drop his standards. Maybe he should just take Ciciela as his bride, she wasn't as bad as the other girls, and it couldn't hurt to give her a chance.

Rustling in the bushes snapped him out of his thoughts, swiftly he turned his head glaring out into the darkness behind him. Nothing, that was all he could see, rubbing his neck he let out a sigh, the boy was just being paranoid, it was just the howling winds causing the bushes to move. A weak chuckle escaped his lips as he gave a slight smile to himself, and paraded on through this horrid weather, scolding himself under his breath.

Further down the trail, a sudden feeling of watching eyes that sent chills down his spine, Naruto quickened his steps without realization. This gaze upon him, felt like a rabid wolf hunting down a stray critter, sizing him up to see when it was best to attack. And Naruto was not a defenseless animal, not if he had anything to say about it.

Keeping his eyes forward, he couldn't help but wonder what was behind him,but had no true intention of turning 'round to meet it; yet it seemed fate had something else in mind. Another swift rustle in the tree that sounded like something dropping, caused the boy to get mad at himself for acting like a helpless child. The thing was more than likely a friend playing a trick or some wild animal that he could beat off. Taking a quick scan of the area with slanted eyes, he let out a growl; the eyes were still on him.

"Hey, you bloody bastard," he roared, "I know you're out there, so come out already!"

Standing erect, the blond man listened quietly to any sudden movement, but the only thing that he could hear was the howling of the wind and harsh droplets of water hitting the leaves. Slowly but surely, Naruto scanned through the area with critical eyes, hoping to at least see something within the shadows, but alas, there seemed to be nothing at all.

Shaking his head, he let out an exasperated sigh, " I'm just imagining this all."

The blond male seemed to fail to notice the presence that had now appeared behind him, or the fact that the rain and wind had stopped as the clouds parted for the moon. It's own light sweeping down upon the forest tops giving a soft eerie glow to the place, a full moon in bloom. A low growl slowly rumbled through the air, shocking the poor man causing him to whip around as fear clouded his eyes.

An over-grown wolf stood behind him, standing on its hind legs with pulsing red eyes. The two seemed to have a stare off, before the creature decided to leap forward with an ear-piercing roar.

The only thing heard after that was Naruto's bloody screams of terror ringing through the empty forest.

Gasping, lavender-colored eyes snapped open as lightning streaked through the air outside and gave the small vehicle a nice shake. A young woman in her late teens sat up in the back seat clutching her frantically beating heart, she glanced out the window where water impaled itself, making it hard to see any distinct land markings of such with the already darkened skies. The girl couldn't even see her reflection due to how it was dark outside, and the sound of the raging storm did nothing to calm her from her nerves; She had always been frightened of storms.

"Miss. Hinata are you quite alright back there," a calm, soothing voice called out to her, calming her down her nerves by the familiarity.

With a gentle smile plastered on her pink, plump lips, Hinata looked out towards the elderly male in the driver's seat, whom was looking straight back at her in the rearview mirror. He was sweet old Daichi, her butler, the man she practically called her own grandfather by the way he acted in her life over the innumerable years. Daichi had been with her ever since she a babe, he was the one who told her stories about her mother, about how beautiful and kind she was before she had passed away from childbirth, Hinata being the lone survivor of the tragedy. But unlike her father, he didn't blame her for it, no, Daichi praised the day little Hinata had been born, saying she was a mini-Haruka* even getting their names mixed up from time to time.

Hinata gave a sweet little hum in response, while turning her head back towards the window ending the conversation from continuing before it began. She hated to bug him with her problems, no matter what it was. Besides it was just one recurring dream that held such little meaning and that's all it was; a dream, right? So why bother him with such a petty little thing, the dream hasn't affected her in any way. But then again, they did seem to get more detailed as they kept coming back.

They had started just over a year and half ago, when she had turned sixteen, they started out being blurry with very little detail. Sometimes the events would get all mixed up or be a different setting than the one before, but it always had the same concept, the blond and the ferocious wolf.

Looking at his mistress from his rear-view mirror, Daichi couldn't help but be a tad bit worried over the girl's attitude these past couple of days. Miss. Hinata seemed to become more disattached to her surroundings than normal, there was something bothering her, and he just knew it, but what it was he would probably never know.

She always seemed to do this, keeping her problems to herself until it finally just broke her causing her to cry all by her lonesome self or break down in front of him, her "safe haven" as she would sometimes call him. Hinata was just like her mother, from the looks to her actions, he could just remember Haruka doing the same thing.

But for now he'd just have to leave her alone, it was best to be paying attention to the roads on this stormy night just to make sure she reaches her destination safely. These roads were not the safest things to be driving on, it wasn't the weather he had wished for; but what was he to do, he couldn't change this horrid weather. All he could do was curse softly under his breath as he swerved away from another car, he was getting way too old to be driving on disastrous nights like these.

"Miss. Hinata?" Daichi called out, getting a soft 'hummm' in returned, "May I inquire as to why you decided on this school again? Beg my pardon, but wasn't there a more proper choice than this school, I understand it's outside of your Japan."

Hinata tore her eyes away from the window, blankly staring at the elderly man, whose eyes practically dedicated towards the road. Blinking, she looked up towards the car ceiling with her cheeks puffed out, tapping her left index finger on her cheek, she pondered the question. Why had she chosen to study in America? Humming slightly, the girl smiled brightly as a light bulb seemed to illuminate inside her head.

Giggling, she looked towards Daichi, half expecting him to know the answer, the other laughing at his forgetfulness. Placing her left index finger upon her lips, Hinata winked at him giving him the reply, "It's a secret!"

Taking a glance at her from the rear-view mirror, Daichi couldn't help but raise his eyebrow at her reply. A secret? What could the girl being hiding from him this time?

"Miss. Hinata, I'm almost positive that whatever this secret is," the butler tried to counter, "could have been done from the safety of staying close to home in a boarding school of Japan."

Shaking her head, Hinata gave a small smile as she turned her head back towards the window, watching the droplets of water that pounded against it. No, she couldn't achieve what she wanted from being so close to home, it was too close to him, too close to her father. He was the very reason for her choice, the bluenette couldn't bare to be the disappointment anymore, no, she wouldn't stay so close to where she would have them breathing down her neck about being "perfect". . .

A glassy haze seemed to overtake her eyes as she stared out the window, her thoughts trailing back to when she had told her father of her decision:

His cold grey eyes glared at her as she stared down at her bent knees, a shudder running through her body. The cold man's face just read disappointed, like every other time she saw it, the expression never got any easier to see. She was afraid of the confrontation, and being in his presence at the moment didn't help to settle her nerves.

"So I see you have decided to head to America for your studies," his emotional voice spoke out causing her to flinch slightly, even though there were no hurtful words being spoken. She knew it would begin like this, but she realized she had to go through it.

"Yes," was her only reply. She looked away with a nervous composure, awaiting to hear back.

Standing up from his spot, her father stalked towards her, causing Hinata's whole body to tense up. Was he disapproving of her choice? Would he hit her? The possibilities of what could happen were endless...And frightening.

Instead of him doing any of those expectations, he just simply walked past her exiting the room; but before he left, he gave his response in cold words, "don't you dare disappoint me." Her eyes widened, but she knew that what he had said was the least he could do to her.

Shaking her head quickly as not to worry Daichi, Hinata gave her best smile with sparkling lavender eyes, "Besides," she sang out, "America is such a lovely and fascinating place, I mean, think of all the urban legends and mythical creatures that seem to thrive here!"

Daichi made a distinct crestfallen with a slight sigh as he wondered how much of her mother's personality this girl had truly inherited. They both seemed to have their heads in the clouds at times as they wrapped their pretty little minds around the ideas of such outlandish creatures existing. It was almost impossible to reason her out of this school now because he knew she must have found some small intriguing fact of there being something here.

But he couldn't help but smile, as he looked back at Hinata from the mirror; her face was glowing with excitement as she went on about some new discover in the local newspaper of a wild beast. Her lavender eyes were always at the brightest when she spoke about these sorts of things, as wide and true smiles graced her plum lips with unequaled happiness. Even her face seemed to glow with a new shine through her pale skin and rosy cheeks.

She had always been such a strange child, never meeting the expectations that her family always seemed to live up to. Unlike her cousin or half-sister, the girl never seemed to grow up like the others, instead she kept a childish aura around her that just seemed to glow when she wasn't being shy. It was a shame that she'd be growing up soon, the very thing made him wonder as to why she couldn't have stayed that sweet little seven-year old girl instead of growing up.

Perhaps, it wasn't that Daichi wasn't proud of the way Hinata was turning out, into the lovely young seventeen year old woman that she was. But he couldn't help but wish to rewind the clock to when she was younger, when she didn't have to go out into the cruelness of the world but be sitting on his lap as he read her fairy tales.

Shaking his head, Daichi gave himself a soft scolding, she could no longer be that little girl with the childish thoughts. Hinata knew it too, for once she got out of school, her father would more than likely marry her off to some lad of high wealth and standing. She didn't have her own life, Hinata was a simple doll meant to play the roles given to her, and the only way out, or in this case, her procrastination into adulthood was this school. The blue-haired beauty in the back seat didn't wish to be married off, she didn't wish for wealth or to be the Hyuga heiress; all she wanted was happiness, but fate was not kind to such a lone girl.

Or was it?

Side Note:

First *- I made that name up on a whim, that will be the only time she is probably mentioned, I don't know . . .
