Hey there! Haven't been able to write recently, I've been busy. Don't worry, I'm still working on "Arthas Menethil - Redemption", and I'll try to gen the next part out soon enough. For now, enjoy this little one-shot I wrote.
Beneath the town of Moonbrook, deep in the tunnels of the Deadmines, the Defias Brotherhood had been planning their revenge for months. And when they struck, none stood against them. No one but a small militia, but they never bothered too much about them. They caught some of their members, but they were never truly an obstacle.
Until today.
Edwin VanCleef slowly walking into his cabin as he heard the door to the Ironclad Cove explode open. Soon, the militia's heroes would be upon him, and he will have to fight them. He wondered if they knew the entirety of the story, but he shook his head. They were indoctrinated bounty hunters, merely sent to kill him. In anger, he slammed his fist on the table with a scream. All of this planning, all of this scheming... Was it truly worth it? To spit in the eye of corruption, only for no one to hear of it. They wouldn't be remembered as those who rebuilt Stormwind, those who restored the great city. They wouldn't be known as those who were wronged by the nobles. They would only be remembered as greedy criminals.
"Daddy?"
Edwin turned his head towards his daughter, which he woke up earlier. He always thought she looked like her mother, Light bless her soul. He told her he'd take care of her, that he'd make sure no harm came her way, and here she was, very nearly in the middle of a battlefield. He rarely had time to be with her, but he cherished those few moments. Now, he wonders if he could have spent more.
"Is everything OK daddy?" she said.
Edwin walked up to her, tucking her back in her bed.
"Everything's alright, daddy just has a few things not going his way. Get back to sleep now, sweetheart."
The sounds of battle came closer. He gave his daughter one last kiss on her forehead, before walking up to his desk, where he picked up a letter he wrote earlier that day. Pocketing it, he grabs his swords, quickly making sure they're in good condition. And then a voice yelled out, coming from the deck.
"There's nowhere left to hide, VanCleef! The Defias are THROUGH! We're here to finish this! Face us, coward!"
Tightening the grip on his blades and pulling his bandana up his nose, he takes one last look at his daughter, before walking out onto the deck with some of his bodyguards waiting in the shadows.
"A coward, you call me? You are fools. Do you even know why we're fighting? No, you're just another drone of the nobles. But our cause is righteous, and we will destroy any who stand in our way."
He charged at the group, swinging his swords in fury.
"None may challenge the Brotherhood!"
