CHAPTER 1: A New Order

It is 4E 203. The year of Stendarr. It's been two years since an order of vampire hunters called the Dawnguard managed to defeat a vampire lord Harkon Volkihar and stopped his plans to destroy the sun using Auriels bow.

In those two years, they won the hearts of Skyrim's citizens and pushed the once feared vampire clans in to hiding. Vampires weren't seen in the last two months but the Dawnguard remained vigilant, knowing that no matter how hard they try, the vampire blight will never end.

Small outposts were established in Skyrim's major cities. The order helped rebuild the Vigilants of Stendarr and put them in they're new headquarters in the newly rebuilt Helgen. Fort Dawnguard was extended and heavily fortified.

The order claimed castle Volkihar for themselves and turned it into their new base of operations for the western part of Skyrim. People from all over Tamriel came to join the now famous group. There were even plans to extend into other provinces. Talks were in place to claim the old Imperial fort in southern Soltsheim.

By summer of 4E 203. The number of Dawnguard members was 176. They patrolled the roads and woods, looking for hiding vampire lairs and exterminating them. They stopped a few plots by Cyrodiilic vampire clans to fill out the power hole left by the extinction of the Volkihar clan.

At the beginning of fall the Imperial Legion and the Stormcloak rebels signed a peace treaty, after the death of Ulfric Stormcloak in the battle for Falkreath. Skyrim would remain in the Empire but would have the freedom to create its own laws. The Thalmor agreed to allow Talos worship in return for Auriels bow.

The Imperials kept their large presence in the western parts, while the Stormcloaks military controlled the eastern parts. Whiterun was elected as the new capital of the province because of its trade importance and its position in the heart of the country.

Winterhold was rebuilt with the help of the College of Winterhold, which was soon disbanded after most of its members went back to Cyrodiil to reestablish the Mages Guild.

But all these good things that happened had a bad side. Although the Dawnguard was now a huge organization, they couldn't watch the whole province at all times. As the vampire threat was almost nonexistent at the beginning of 4E 204. People started to relax. This gave the vampire clans some breathing room and for the first time in two and a half years they could get out to feed on humans after surviving on animals for such a long time. Clans started contacting each other to prepare ambushes and to share those few drops of human blood.

At the beginning of spring one vampire clan, led by a vampire master well known to the Dawnguard, decided to do the one thing they thought a vampire will never do. They asked the witches for help.
