In honour of Earth Day today, I wrote this little one shot. this is my first kyotama so tell me if it sucks!

It was one Earth Day when Kyoya and Tamaki were hanging out in the club room after the host club. Tamaki, in one of his dreamy silences, was staring out the window intently. Kyoya, struggling to balance the club's budget, was at a desk with his head bent over his notebook. Tamaki started whispering something to himself. Kyoya put down his pen and sighed. He couldn't concentrate any more.

He got up and walked over to where Tamaki was standing.

The two of them stared out the window for a solid three minutes before Tamaki spoke.

"Kyoya," He said, as though he were in a trance, "Have you ever noticed how beautiful nature is?"

Kyoya sighed. Despite his cold, calculating manner, his heart skipped a beat when he thought of the wonders of nature. He sat down on the window seat.

"Yes I have, Tamaki." He breathed almost wistfully. Tamaki continued, oblivious.

"I've been thinking a lot about how we need to stop the destruction of the earth. Because soon there will be no earth left for us."

To Kyoya's surprise, Tamaki's words stirred something deep inside of him. He suddenly felt the extreme need to express himself.

"It's more than just that." He said softly. "It's about preserving the beauty."

Kyoya, sensing the sudden shift beside him, indicating Tamaki had turned to look at him, blithely carried on. "It's about making sure we still have sunsets to watch, and trees to climb. We need to make sure we can still smell rain, and kick up leaves in the fall. There needs to be rainbows and full moons, a navy sky full of stars, or an azure one with puffy white clouds. We need to be able to feel the salt in the ocean, and the clear freshness of spring water. We need to preserve the beauty."

He stopped talking and turned his head to Tamaki. His beautiful violet eyes were glazed over. "Preserve the beauty…" He repeated.

Time slowed down. For Kyoya, it was the rush of adrenaline and the pump of his blood as Tamaki came closer. For Tamaki, it was the heat that enveloped him as their chests touched and the jump in his stomach as his lips rested on Kyoya's.

It was a short kiss, but a meaningful one. Kyoya gasped slightly in shock, but moved his lips along with Tamaki's and pulled him closer. All too soon, Tamaki pulled away.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me." He mumbled, his stomach flipping like a frog. "Don't be." Kyoya replied, and this time he kissed Tamaki.

This time, as they both knew the other's feelings, they didn't stop. Tamaki put his arms around Kyoya's middle and pulled him in, crushing their lips together. Kyoya closed his eyes in bliss, which was good because his glasses were knocked askew. The smell of roses encircled them, and Kyoya found himself idiotically wondering if Tamaki wore rose perfume.

After what felt like an appropriate amount of time, they stopped. There was a silence, then Tamaki started laughing.

Kyoya smiled too. Preserving the beauty. Seemed like an accurate term for that moment.
