The Footprint
*THUD*
This was the noise that awoke Takato Matsuki from his slumber, and was followed by muffled munching sounds, which continued as he sprang from his bed and began to make his way down the staircase, creeping slowly.
The thoughts that ran through his head were, as always, a little strange. They went as thus:
"Please let it be Guilmon stealing bread again, what should I do if it's a burglar… maybe I could convince him I'm a Digimon by growling a lot…hmm."
Takato's plans usually ended in either disaster, or miraculous victory, but in this case, he didn't even get to test it.
As he reached the bottom step, he saw around the corner a monstrous silhouette (fed by his over-active imagination into a myriad of creatures, ranging from horrific to hilarious.) that suddenly stilled. He froze on the spot, not wanting to be caught, and believing he had been heard. At than point there emanated a strange snuffling sound from around the corner, and all of a sudden, the silhouette vanished, Takato hearing the ringing of the bell fixed above the bakery door. At this point he realised that it was safe to enter the room, and as he did so, he surveyed his surroundings:
The open bread-bin, the loaf of half eaten bread, the flour covering the floor. Well, he thought, the bread is probably what made the thud, as clumsy claws attempted to grab it. And he ran away so fast, I don't think he had time to close the bread bin. As he walked forward, he noticed a footprint in the flour, a three-clawed footprint. That was the final piece of evidence needed; Takato had finally caught him in the act.
Guilmon's going to have some explaining to do tomorrow, He thought.
