Disclaimer: I don't own anything to do with Buffy the Vampire Slayer...duh.
Summary: When Spike's chip-removal surgery goes horribly wrong, Spike has to move into the Hyperion with Angel and Co for help. Can he cope?
Couples: Spike/Angel, Xander/Lindsey
Category: Angst/Drama/Crossover
Rating: PG 13
Author's comments: I'm not sure whether to continue this story or not...tell me if you think I should
Warnings: THIS IS SLASH. If you no like-y, no read-y. Got it?....right, now I got that outta my system, I'll also warn you this is extremely AU. Dawn is Buffy's real sister, Glory NEVER HAPPENED, Anya never existed so Xander's single (yum). K?
I rubbed my hands in anticipation. Finally! Finally I'd found someone to take my chip out. She has recommendations. Demon chick, great with brain surgery. Blabbers a bit to much though, keeps going on and on about 'risks of procedure'. Like a give a fat rat's arse about danger and risks. Anything is better than this. I lie down and fight the impulse to do a happy dance when they inject drugs in to knock me out.
"Before we carry on, are you sure Spike? You realize that this procedure is totally against my better judgment. It most likely won't even work and you could get some permanent brain damage. Are you sure you want this?" My soon- to-be hero-surgeon asks me. Told you she was blabby.
"YES. Bleeding hell woman, I told you, YES!" I said, rolling my eyes. She nodded reluctantly and then the lights went out.
The moment I woke up, I knew something had gone horribly, horribly wrong. Something was off but I couldn't put my finger on it. I snarled at the nurse who was currently poking at me.
"Spike, wake up." She was saying. I snarled again and she stopped. I turned and saw my Doctor. My heart sunk. The look on her face told me immediately that things did not go to plan.
"What happened?" I blurted out. She looked away for a second and then took my hand in hers.
Oh shit this cannot be good.
"Spike, I am so sorry. When we attempted to remove the chip, it began to send electronic shocks through your brain, endangering your life. If I hadn't stopped the procedure then you would have been a pile of dust on my operating table." I nodded, fighting the tears of disappointment and frustration.
Think positive. I'll still be the Big Bad, I'd go somewhere else...maybe a different surgery could... "Spike.." She said softly. My head shot up, startled out of my thoughts.
"There's more?" I asked, my eyes widening, dread building up in my chest.
"The electronic pulses it sent out was shutting down certain part of your brain but we stopped the operation in time to save all your vital systems but...we couldn't save your gross motar functions.."
"Meaning?" I asked, my voice shook and I knew full well what was coming.
"You no longer have use of your legs." She said quietly...it was in that moment that my life shattered. I didn't speak while she explained the technicalities, how she couldn't do anything, how sorry she was...I couldn't.
Not again, I couldn't be trapped in that sodding wheelchair again...I would stake myself first.
"H...how is that possible? Won't my h..healing abilities d..do a..anything?" I said, stuttering more than Glinda.
"No, I'm sorry. If it weren't for your healing abilities you would probably be paraplegic, you're lucky you still have use of your upper body," She said quietly, putting a warm hand on mine.
Oh fuck.
Hello wheelchair, goodbye life.
TO BE CONTINUED.
