Found this which I wrote ages ago and edited it a little today. It's not great but the comment on my new story from Jadziwine made me happy so I thought I'd put it up especially for her :) Regular is Matt, italics is Alesha, bold is a little bit from Ronnie. Enjoy!
I idly wondered to myself what the new JCP would be like. Someone who could compliment James, that meant it had to be someone passionate, but emotional. Someone to reign him in when he casually cast the feelings of the people he encountered aside. I glanced at Ronnie and smiled, he was eating. He looked oddly endearing with a mouth stuffed full of food. It didn't take long for him to feel my eyes on him, 'No flirty flirty funny business with the new girl, alright?' I rolled my eyes at him, but this was the first time I'd been told it was a woman. I looked into the room as we approached the door of James's office. The dark skinned lady had her back to us, but she looked young, and James seemed happy enough with her. They were eating and laughing.
Ronnie opened the door and I followed him in, walking forward to briefly shake James' hand and then turning to meet our new colleague. Wow. She was beautiful, that much was obvious. I watched whilst Ronnie finished his introduction and then offered my hand. 'DS Matt Devlin.' She smiled at me and I studied her face; wide shiny eyes, smooth flawless skin, full brown lips, she really was stunning.
'Alesha Phillips.' Alesha. The name suited her. I smiled, more of a grin really. We were going to get along fine.
James had already warned me about Matt when they arrived. But how bad could he really be? We sat and ate as we waited for them to make the journey from the station to the CPS. James looked up and I heard the door open behind me. I looked around to meet my new colleagues.
The older man came through the door first, from what James had told me this must be Ronnie. He gave me a smile and quickly introduced himself before turning to James.
Then came the younger guy. I could see why he had all the women eating out of the palm of his hand. He was gorgeous. Not tall, but not short, and well built. He looked like he worked out. Pale skin, smooth, clean-shaven. His spiky light brown hair looked soft, it stuck out a little in every direction. He somehow managed to look nice, friendly and handsome, whilst maintaining a presence which clearly said you wouldn't want to mess with him. His eyes were the killer though, electric blue. Deep, like they had stories to tell. 'DS Matt Devlin.' Devlin. I smiled to myself as I shook his hand. Firm but oddly seductive. I could tell I was going to have to be careful around him.
Uh-oh. There it was. The look. The look that always got Matt whatever it was he wanted. I knew only one woman who'd ever resisted, and that was the gov. He was perfectly polite to our new companion, but I could tell what he was thinking, it was there on his face. I sighed a little, maybe I was just being cynical. Maybe, by some miracle, she would be the one to straighten him out.
